Most bans are completely mysterious to me? What got Ronito banned? He was a quality poster who was usually pretty nice and even seemed to get along with the mods.  PD was one of the best content creators on GAF and I had no idea why he was always banned.

Way back in the day I couldn't figure out why Demi was permabanned.

The simple fact is that Amir0x was an attack dog that GAF liked. They liked his politics and his abrasive nature towards the "enemies" of liberalism and social justice. In their eyes, Amir0x's scummy nature was inconsequential compared to his role as a righteous attack dog.

Of course, ignoring that scummy behavior backfires eventually as 'Lore and GAF staff experienced yesterday.

If there's one good thing to come out of this for Amir0x, it is that he will finally get his chance to punch Nazis and racists while in prison.

Didn't Amirox got "woke" a year ago or so as part of his latest rebranding to get in GAF's good graces ? At that point he wasn't able to "attack" anything anymore but bark loudly about how he'd be when it would be time to purge the koulaks.
Really I don't think you need to throw in the whole "far left" & "SJW" angle to the manifestation of group think you see on NeoGAF. I don't think Amirox initial (or Bishop lasting one until he was taken behind the shed) popularity is much more complex than their habit of grotesque use of their powers (or their displays of abrasiveness going unchallenged). I said that this makes no sense because many pacifists help the poor. They then argued that groups who try to help the poor by giving them food are only - and I quote - "using a band-aid" and that for us to have true peace we need violence. I disagreed of course because that mindset makes no sense and most people try to do what they can. I was accused of virtue signaling.

Basically, virtue signaling is a way for them to try to be on higher ground by claiming that you are arguing from a virtuous position of having more moral merit. It can be used for anything you disagree with because anything we argue correlates to our own specific set of ethics and values - hence virtue.

It's just another way for SJWs to shut down an argument that makes them uncomfortable or that they don't like having. It's a way to "win".

The funny thing is that these same people are shocked that the police protected neo nazis from them when they openly support things like Punch A Nazi and talking about exorting wilful violence against groups they disagree with. After the election they've decided to double down rather than go towards the center. Their mentality is frightening.

I also doubt that this has done much of anything violent in her life, which is another thing that I don't get about these people. Conservatives fantasize about getting to pull a gun on a burglar, liberals fantasize about getting to punch in a nazi.

Yeah a lot of them have never been in a violent situation and are ignorant of how frightening and claustrophobic it is. GAF is beyond saving with Lore at the helm. He's mostly disinterested and only shows up publicly a few dozen times a year anyway. Stump comes off as completely bitter and resentful of the current GAF community to the point of openly berating them when he can. Aeana just shut down a thread the other day because she couldn't be bothered to "babysit".  Even the community leaders dislike the community.

There are still plenty of good mods but you almost never hear from them anymore. I imagine quite a few are disheartened with the direction the site as taken but know what happens to anyone that speaks out. Lore can't handle constructive criticism. You're either with him or against him and if Bish wasn't safe then no one is safe.
