Hey Guy's NeoGAF refugee here. I decided to bail out after the amirox incident, but I remain a member. I registered for NeoGAF when I was 16 with an ADULT porn website email address so that I could subscribe to threads. Later when I got my uni email address, I switched the porn one for that and was a junior member instantly since I could actually confirm my account.

To be honest, I've been trying to find alternatives to NeoGAF since it's gone to shit these last few years. Biases seemed to creep the discussion board, and if it wasn't that, then it was politics thread where people went to die. Gaming side slowly became a place where most of the threads were ones you didn't want to post in. Off topic became a circle jerk/hive mind for Hillary Clinton and you couldn't post "wrong opinions". Reddit fills most of my needs and more. I found this site, which seems pretty cool and kinda like an old NeoGAF vibe. My handle here isn't my NeoGAF one, but I always kinda wanted zophar as a username since the Lunar series is my favourite.

I voted for Bernie then Clinton. NeoGAF still banned me, so try again on that reasoning. They're a bit worse than simply dividing up voters. It's one giant purity test.

I kind of see both sides of the argument. On one hand, Himu and others are coming from a place of human decency. McCain's politics really have nothing to do with him having brain cancer, and attacking him in the thread about his tumor shows a lack of sympathy for another human being. On the other thing, threads do not exist in a vacuum. McCain's supported a healthcare bill that would hurt millions of people. And if the thread consisted of just people expressing their good wishes, it would be rather pointless. Certainly a lot of the posters of GAF could approach this with a bit more tact. But the "fuck him, he's an asshole anyway, enjoy your nice Congressional healthcare fuckface" response is really nothing shocking considering the general atmosphere of that place.
