don't know, there was supposed to be a hearing today but there wasn't one because he plea bargained, so it will go to a sentencing trial in a few weeks.
I think sentencing guidelines are up to 5 years for a 3rd degree and up to 10 for a 2nd
plus he will be on the sex offender list for 25 years

Lots of factors, too. Previous convictions weigh in - which he indeed does have although they are unrelated. Also depends if they are going to get him for distribution instead of possession since it was BitTorrent.
he could potentially get just probation too, but still have the felony under his belt
i used to work with a dude who got caught with possession as well in NY

2. 10 years probation, sex offender registry (25 years i think)
3. class iii offender
4. had to tell our employer (they fired him), has to tell all future employers
5. no internet access at home, no internet access on phone (he had to get a flip phone)
6. has to quit all drinking and drugs, banned from bars, sporting events, malls, schools, etc.
