Someone at my job did something like this:

Asked for a raise, was told no.
Got a competing job offer with higher pay and brought that back to their manager. Asked for a promotion to stay and got it. Only one promotion was allocated for that team (which I was a member of at the time) during that year so..
They then used their new position to demand a higher salary at the other job and took it.
No one on their original team could then get a promotion for that year.

So on one hand I was potentially robbed of a promotion. On the other hand, my manager wasn't handing out any promotions anyway and only gave out token (+0.5%) pay increases so I wasn't expecting much.

Was it a dick move? Sure, but I wasn't even mad because it was obvious that the manager valued that person while refusing to advance their career.

Don't take the counter offer. You're putting yourself on the list as the first person to go in the next downturn. Don't tell your current boss about an outside offer unless you're already determined to take it.

On the other hand, I also don't recommend turning down a good offer just because you like your current office and the people you work with. The decision about whether or not you get to keep working there might be made for you at any time. Plus, you might like your new coworkers just as well or even better. Companies generally don't demonstrate loyalty to employees, and even if you think yours does it might surprise you some day.

I said in an earlier post, most women don't take kindly when they're criticized by strangers over the manner of their attire. We need to employ that sentiment and multiply that with female voters when it comes to abortion. You think it's weird when complete strangers obsess and criticize what a woman wears on her time and dime? How does requiring women to have phallic devices for mandatory untrasounds compare in that regard? Remember the backlash when Bush signed that emergency order to halt the removal of the feeding tube from the terminally comatose, Terri Schiavo? We need more of that outrage when it comes to the evangelical right. To create our own clout to drown out the notion that we need to rely on these deplorables. We don't. And we shouldn't. To do otherwise is to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Honestly, I think the onus falls on progressives all over the country to own this issue with the same measure of defiance that the LGBT movement has when it comes to marriage equality, and quite frankly, their sexual practices, or lifestyle if you will.

Someone in this thread said that abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. That's the exact mindset that has made mandatory waiting periods, mandatory vaginal probes, cut off periods, etc. into the norm, because who else besides the promiscuous, the irresponsible, the coldblooded, and vacuous gets abortions to begin with? That's the fucking narrative that's been propagated over the past 30 years, and no one's been able to combat these lies effectively, because no one's ever willing to go out on a limb to protect this issue, or to acknowledge that it's a common occurrence for a large number of women, or that it's helped, if not saved the lives of countless women. No one ever does that, and that's why we have a sizable number of americans who've bought into the prolife canard, and why the DNC seems A-OK with compromising on this issue when they should be figuring out ways to galvanize people into supporting this issue the way it needs to be. Most women get pissed off when you criticize the outfit they're wearing, or for staying out too late, or any other trivial issue of the day. I have to assume these same women would be just as indignant at the prospect of 60 year old white men telling them what to do with their bodies, or at least they would if they genuinely felt this right was in legitimate danger of being taken from them.

As long as we're throwing out hypothetical scenarios, what if someone wanted to go back to segregation, but they were suuuuper liberal on every single other issue? It would be better than someone from the tea party who is racist and conservative on every other issue. That's how it works, right?

Crafsman mowers haven't had a priming bulb in years...

Everyone covered everything in this thread already.

First check to make sure fuel line open.
Then read how to prime.
Then really rip into it when you try to start. It can take a few times when they are new.

Did you read the user's manual? It will have all the answers you need. YouTube is a good alternative. Anyhow, make sure the fuel line is in the open position, you filled up your oil tank. Which brings up another question, is it a two stroke motor? If it is the oil needs to be mixed in with the gas. Some models require priming, typically 2 stroke motors. They might also have a choke for cold starting your engine. Press the handle bar and pull.

Ditto on the fuel line adjustment. Craftsman mowers don't need any sort of adjustment out of the box.

Aside from what everyone else said, make sure your fuel mix is correct. It'll probably be like 50:1 or 40:1 gas/oil mix.

Only one person noted your likely issue...kill switch. All mowers have a fail safe... riding ones have multiple ones. On the handle there will be a bar that needs to be held against handle or it will prevent spark...won't start or keep running without being held

This too. Lots of folks don't know that you have to hold this down since it's basically a kill switch when not engaged.

I'd be surprised if OP didn't realize you need to hold the bar down while pulling for a mower to start. Pretty sure all mowers work like this. Furthermore, there's no simple "kill switch" on these mowers from my experience.

It is IN...the MANUAL. I guarantee you there's a section for startup procedures.

I guarantee the manual won't mention a way to open the fuel line, and I can guarantee that's not the issue.

To offer up a real solution, 9 times out of 10 when a Craftsman mower won't start, it's because the oil line is incorrect. Too much oil will clog the engine, and too little will prevent the blade from moving at all. Double check to make sure the oil level on the dipstick is between the two indented arrows. Make sure you're using E87 (that's regular) gas from the gas station and using the oil that it came with. There should be a separate pouch of SAE-30 in the box. I've fixed so many mowers this way.

Today's high performance engines typically have high compression ratios and/or turbochargers, either of which necessitates higher octane gas.  Octane's a rating based on the measurement of gasoline's resistance to pre-ignition or "detonation" which is when the air/fuel mixture in a cylinder burns during the wrong part of the combustion cycle, resulting in a "ping" sound.  Severe detonation can cause engine damage in the form of cracked or melted pistons, broken piston ring lands, bent rods, etc.

The measurement methods used can differ.  Europe uses the RON method whereas the USA, Canada, and some other countries use the R+M/2 method.  What's called "98 octane" in Europe is roughly equivalent to "93 octane" in the USA.  But there's more to it than that.  Additives like detergents, oxygenated fuel, ethanol mixtures, etc can also have an effect on how gasoline burns.  In California and most of the rest of the west coast the highest octane available at the pump (with the exception of racing and aviation gas) is 91 octane and the lowest is 87.  In much of the rest of the USA it's 93 octane, occasionally 94.  My car runs like shit on California 91 octane.  I have to mix in 1/4 of a tank worth of 100 octane race gas to keep it from pinging at full throttle.

For a lawnmower engine I would imagine 87 octane would be totally fine unless you're at a high altitude.

It's about numbers. Based on the dude's nondescript concept of people "returning to the jungle" or "natural state", I'd say the game parameters are...

All human beings must move to and live in tropical or subtropical rainforest biomes.
No cities, no factories and no agriculture allowed. 
No oil, no gas, no coal.  No generators or vehicles that rely upon any of those are allowed.
Guns, hand tools and canned foods from current civilization are ok but only what can be carried and you can't return to cities to retrieve more once you've left.

Billions of people tightly confined and simply existing for a short period of time- slashing, burning, consuming and turning the rivers into shit would be enough to obliterate the forested areas in short order.  Diseases couldn't kill the people fast enough to save the local ecosystem from the human scourge.
