The only thing that confuses me about this video... Ryckert.... has he played any game ever? Because he was oblivious to classic video gaming tropes. Don't stand in stupid stuff, don't do the same thing multiple times, alot of the concepts are everywhere and he was oblivious to everything.  I would have expected gameplay like this if someone like, my mother were playing but not someone that works for a leading video game publication.

This is a shining example of the idiocy that is Dan Ryckert. He blabbers about things that he knows nothing about, failing along the way, while being coolly criticized by his coworkers. I'm glad they didn't let him hear them so he couldn't interrupt their splendid commentary of every fault he made and stupid thing he said.

unfortunately it's very boring. i was in a group called streamfriends and it was a good group of folks including austin walker and the people from his RP podcast, as well as some others. in early 2015 austin emailed the group to let everyone know that someone in the chat had reported getting unsolicited nudes from one of the streamers. the reaction of austin and the group was that the best solution to this would be to write something in a "best practices" guide so that if it happened again, we could get rid of the offender.

i found this unacceptable and said that the offender should be revealed (if not publicly, then at least to the group) and quit. but that was deemed as something that wasn't going to happen and everyone else agreed with him, so i quit the group in disgust. still don't know who it was, just that the instant response was that this should all be covered up and swept under the rug and never mentioned again. and yes i have emails to prove all this, but again it's not very interesting stuff. just something that got me pissed.

I want to say this isn't the first time people were told to "believe women!" "Sliding into DMs" leaves a pretty exact paper trail and doesn't need to feature your identity after one min of mspaint, but failing that, just quote him or give a summary of those stories. They are arguing for safety. Okay. Why not release the stuff anonymously? Lots of question marks on this thing. The fact it was an open secret and people just let it slide doesn't really do much to make me feel any better about the games industry either.

The most convincing reason I've seen cited for the secrecy is because press is a tiny and incestuous industry. They can't afford to rock the boat unless they can be sure it's not going to blow up in their face or go nowhere because it starts and stops at "he said she said." Well, what they're doing gives zero credence or trust in the SSW press. Comparing it to Bill Cosby for instance, is laughable. Cosby had clear allegations aimed at him from day one. Another point of contention is that if this will result in blowback against the press because Nick Robinson abused his power for favors, if this implicates others in the game press all that does is question why they are so gung bo about calling him out if they - reportedly - already knew and tolerated such behavior.

In the end, this just makes me trust the game press less. Is that their goal?
