I tried the demo out- seemed fine to me as far as how it ran. Wondering why it's 30 FPS, but there were spots where the enemies just a bit in the background had even less frames until you get close enough.

In addition to ACNH being 30fps (with dips depending on the island... 😒), my only annoyance with graphics/performance is...

The thought bubbles that appear over villagers' heads (like "?") are like... half fps. It's pretty noticeable and I can't imagine it's that much of a performance boost to not match the native 30fps.

Like Mario looking very noticeably weird and low-poly if you moved the camera a little in SMG in 3D All-Stars due to the res increase and the nature of emulation, I get the technical reasoning. Just wish it got fixed lol.

Nice to see some form of organization added, but it's super bare-bones. Unlike some other platforms, you can't just create folders and have them be on the main menu. Nor will they show under All Software. Instead, it's a separate menu option under All Software (press L). Once you create a folder, you also can't do anything except add/remove games or manually sort them- there's no options to alphabetize or sort by last played like All Software has.

Despite being a western developed spinoff, Overkill's my favorite of the franchise. The game, on Wii at least (never did end up playing the Extended Cut, even though I think I own it on Steam...) had very satisfying gameplay. The framerate really let it down though. Would have 100%ed it but one last Gold Skull was locked behind the scoring system, which wasn't QAed or something thoroughly because you only get currency if you make the offline leaderboard... making it totally possible to fuck yourself out of money by scoring really highly the first 10 times and never making money ever again.

Otherwise I don't have enough good things to say about Overkill.

The grindhouse style done perfectly

Over-the-top voice-acting kept from the JP games but directed in a different way, giving the audio its own style

Getting 52 headshots in a row and reaching Goregasm

The headshots in this game basically being Gallagher watermelons long before gaming beat that horse to death

The soundtrack

And the writing that made 16-year old me laugh my ass off... same as 30-year old me

Logically, they'll move onto 3 and 4 possibly for Switch 2. 😍

Kirby 3D World Odyssey has been getting really good reviews. This Q1 has been packed. I'm not sure when I'll get it, but I'll pick it up this year.

Looks impressive for the platform. He thinks maybe it's 30 FPS because of the large amount of enemies that can be on screen at the same time. I dunno.

Played the Kirby demo, loved how fun and how well paced gameplay was. Ordered it and have a physical copy waiting for me.

Also tried Triangle Strategy and found it pretty cool. The demo covers the first couple of chapters and progress carries over. Might wait and see if it goes on sale soon before paying full price.

Emulators are already running this at 60FPS at 4K lol. Didn't mind it in the demo, personally. Think the locked camera helps.
