Is there even a slight chance SMT makes it out this year? I mean, I know they didn't even give a title, but it is the 25th anniversary, and they plastered the logo on it.

It's Atlus. I'd say 2019 at the earliest and that's being very optimistic.

Remember how long it took them to make Persona 5? Now they have to HD-ifiy their sprites (that give Konami and IGA a run for asset reuse) of demons with the Persona 3-4-5 and Nocturne models to Unreal Engine. That'll probably take them a year or so depending on how fast that process is. Then building the game, etc.

Unreal Engine should help though. It's getting decent Japanese language support IIRC.

REGION FREE????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Ok, I'm sold just because it's the first Nintendo system in forever that I don't have to spend $600+ to own both US & JPN versions just to play import rpgs.

Xenoblade 2 is cool, and SMT is always good.  Looking forward to it.

I'd be surprised if it released before 2019 tbh. #FE took FOREVER from announcement to release.

Yeah, but this time they don't have to waste time figuring out what type of game it should be.

Was a bit bearish on Zeruda till I saw that trailer... now HYPE AF!

Apart from the stupid shit at the beginning (that weird rock em sock em robots game and whatever the hell 1 2 Switch was supposed to be), and the western stuff, system really looks to have a lot of what I wanted out of it. Bomberman? Disgaea? DQ? A new retro throwback RPG from SE? And fucking SMT5 and Xenoblade 2 (stole the show)? And you can switch between portable and home? Hopefully this will be

Biggest complaints are the questionable battery life, and paid online.

I hope they release a list of launch titles tomorrow.  Right now I'm feeling like I'd buy one at release if it's easy enough to pre-order, but like the NES Classic Mini, I'm not gonna rush out to buy one if it's hard to get.

Probably won't grab one at launch though.  I keep trying to get excited about a new Zelda but tbh I think I hate the series at this point after all these terrible entries and Nintendo's crazy hand holding for 8 hour tutorials.  I'll wait and see what word of mouth is a few months later when I pick up a Switch.  Last time I liked a Zelda from start to finish was like the 3ds one?  Before that probably Minish Cap.

They flashed a bunch of titles on the screen real quick.  Looked like a lot of ports...I don't get why they didn't take time to show that stuff instead of having devs get on the stage with literally nothing to show.

I don't quite grasp the price point as a replacement for the 2/3DS when kids already mostly don't want these things.

Whatever I guess. This is distinctly within the Nintendo cycle of "just buy the thing when it's cheaper and there are enough released Nintendo games you want." At least you can include Pokémon and Fire Emblem in that now.

To be fair the 3DS originally launched at $250, well out of the kiddy price range. We'll probably get a smaller, more rugged version of the Switch (a la 2DS) in 1-2 years time.

Well I doubt SMTV and the SE game are exclusive to the Switch. I'm sure SMTV is reusing P5's assets and well might as well release it on the PS4 where your core audience is if you're making a console game. SE is'nt going have a console game not on the PS4 either.

Still, outside of Xenoblade(which jesus how do they continue to have the worst character designs) I'm not sure whats to be excited about. Showing me some cool jrpgs gets me excited sure and I'll buy a Switch for those, but my problem with Nintendo is they don't offer a lot for people who don't give a shit about their traditional ips. Which honestly seems like most people, beyond the faithful and I'm not seeing a lot that will change people. A Pokemon full HD JRPG might have as Pokemon is no doubt their most mainstream appealing IP, but I guess there's Mario? The showing was just the normal Nintendo that doesn't speak to the non-Nintendo faithful.

The battery life seems abysmal. I have to carry around a tablet that I also need to remember to bring the two controller things and it only really will last 2 hours lets be honest. Why would I use it as a portable instead of my ipad or phone? So that gimmick doesn't actually seem to replace the handheld aspect promised.

Sure, EA and Ubisoft are there again to spout the same shit. Why believe any of it? Why buy fifa on the Switch when I can already buy a version that will probably look the same or even look better on the consoles I already own and already pay for the online?

This just seems like another Nintendo console and I can't help but see it fail. They are trying to chase two separate markets, but at the same time and failing. They can't beat the Ipad, I'm sorry and you're not going to be the PS or the Xbox in the home console area. Just like the Wii U, it seems to be this also ran, and well thats a problem.

Online lobby and voice chat... via an app? :confused

It's not terrible and at least it's there, but it is strange. I guess that frees up the system to use more of its resources for the game itself at least.
