Which reminds me, weren't the dems going to get his tax returns released? I suppose they can't do it while the shutdown is in progress?

From what I've read, the Ways & Means Committee can ask for any tax return they want to, and the Secretary of Treasury is meant to hand it over. It would be confidential just for that committee (or just for certain members of it? idk) but they could decide to share it with the full House/Senate at which point it would have to leak.

Buuuuuuut it's an old law that's never been used on a president and is apparently vague enough that Mnuchin could maybe stall indefinitely. Probably will be a big slapfight in court about it.

Looks like Queen Nancy read all my posts here.

It's clear that Trump has no intention of ending the shutdown until he can use the SOTU as a last-ditch PR event.

So now Nancy is threatening to cancel the SOTU because the secret service isnt getting paid and cant secure the event.

The pattern of his pro-Putin, pro-Russia, anti-FBI, anti-intelligence community actions are so one-sided, and the lies and obfuscation surrounding every single Russian meeting and conversation are so consistent, that if this president isn’t actually hiding a massive conspiracy, it means the alternative is worse: America elected a chief executive so oblivious to geopolitics, so self-centered and personally insecure, so naturally predisposed to undermine democratic institutions and coddle authoritarians, and so terrible a manager and leader, that he cluelessly surrounded himself with crooks, grifters, and agents of foreign powers, compromising the national security of the US government and undermining 75 years of critical foreign alliances, just to satiate his own ego.

Its pretty crazy that Ann Coulter basically admits that there's not enough money for the wall, and that she already thinks Donald Trump is a terrible negotiator. This whole shutdown is basically happened despite one of his biggest cheerleaders think he's already lost before this whole thing started.

I'm curious what other countries managed to get a bakchich in to curry favour. We know Turkish lobbyists went to Flynn with some wetworks and I wouldn't be surprised a few others would be there. It will probably take years to unravel some of the plausible corruption going on here.

there's actually part of an Apprentice episode like that Kingsman clip, they bring out the covered silver platters in some fancy dining room, then they open them up and it's like the new sandwich from Wendy's they have to advertise

however, this may have happened on the superior UK version so i am loathe to suggest Trump is yet again repeating his show without doing a proper literature review

edit: probably both Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen have pulled this stunt almost every season of every version
