Like, it was a bad date but not sexual harassment or rape or assault.
I always roll my eyes at the "just a bad date" defense. If it was just a bad date then that means it's something that happens all the time and is totally normal and that's just fucking depressing. That means when women go on bad dates and probably they often do, they always get pressured into sucking dick, getting naked, being groped, getting fingers stuck down their throats, followed around, having to lock themselves in bathrooms etc etc. It was a shitty and oppressive first encounter at a strange man's apartment, not something that should be normalized as a "bad date". A bad date should leave someone feeling like they wasted their time, not like they were violated.
Anyone who acts like that towards another person and justifies it by saying "hurr durr it was just a bad date" is a total scumbag and probably shouldn't be going on dates at all. And miss me with the "but she complained about the choice of wine so clearly she is just being overdramatic about everything else" bs. Aziz is a pathetic creep.
Yes, women get pressured into sex all the time on dates.
I’m not sure what world you live on that you think this
At some point, people need to realize that the chick has agency, and wasn’t held hostage. She has the ability to say no, she has the ability to not go to a guys apartment on the first date, and could have slapped him and walked out at any moment... or just walked out. She never really said no. Even by her own account until right before she left. And once she firnly said no, he basically called her an Uber and she left.
Was he being shitty? Yes. Did she also execute terrible judgment? Yes. Did he do anything that deserved any special attention? No.
If it wasn’t just a bad date... what would you call it? Was it sexual assault? Was it attempted rape? Was it rape?
Should Aziz Ansari be charged with a crime? Because it not... then it’s just a bad date. Maybe it’s an extra double plus super bad date... but I’m not sure what other label you can stick on it.
