Rumors are that he's trying to make sure that state department officials will be safe from retaliation if they cooperate with the house. He urgently scheduled this behind closed doors while Pompeo is in Italy. But we'll see what comes of it.

The IG wanted to warn the congressmen that misinformation was send to the state dept. in May and it included folders from the Trump hotel.
He more or less made it sound like it came from the White House or someone related to it.

There's a chance that this is the 'conspiracy nonsense' Tom Bossert mentioned that got Rudy to start his investigation.
It lines up with the timeline of the Russia investigation ending and Trump sending Rudy to figure out what had happened in 2016.
