LMAO

It's tweets like this where I get the feeling that he really didn't want this job but his pride, and being way too deep in the hole is preventing him from just admitting it. Or he's just trying to distract us from some other crooked shit he did idk

Yikes, that Daily Wire site is embarrassing.

You got that shit bookmarked, Syph? I can see why you think Mark Steyn is a good writer by comparison now.
Nah, I just like seeing what Ben Shapiro is doing from time to time and that's where he writes nowadays (aka i saw the article when i went to the site; it's not written by him).
I still don't understand the hate for Steyn though.

i read this right after seeing a story about how trump and obama have been talking frequently...do you think obama just pretends he hasn't seen trump's tweets at all times? must be awkward as hell

Sounds like the distraction is more harmful that what it is supposed to get the attention away from. Suggesting 1 out of every 70 ballots are fraudulent is a pretty wild claim.

I dunno, man, the NYT story today was friggin brutal. Of course a similar article could have been posited just a few weeks ago to greater effect...

but yeah, lamp shading that with his pettiness is a big plus for him, seriously.

Yeah, I know the excuse, I've been hearing it for 8 years. It's the republicans' fault for being a neoliberal sellout. Funny how he suddenly becomes a progressive and pushes for measures like this one just before the elections but then forgets about them right after. It's such a funny coincidence.

While that tweet is ridiculous and in best case scenario him projecting about the millions of fraud votes for him that will come up in a recount, I'm pretty sure he's just talking about the early voting in counties where they stayed open past the cutoff time to let people vote (who were largely hispanic) since he already made a stink about that when it happened saying it was illegal.

What should be illegal is voting on a working day, it's purposely designed that way to prevent the working class from voting.  In a system that fundamentally broken staying past the cutoff time is the least of our worries. Then again we're talking about Trump, I shouldn't expect anything better from him.

another excellent piece by Glenn Greenwald and friends

Washington Post Disgracefully Promotes a McCarthyite Blacklist From a New, Hidden, and Very Shady Group

Quote
THE WASHINGTON POST on Thursday night promoted the claims of a new, shadowy organization that smears dozens of U.S. news sites that are critical of U.S. foreign policy as being “routine peddlers of Russian propaganda.” The article by reporter Craig Timberg — headlined “Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say” — cites a report by an anonymous website calling itself PropOrNot, which claims that millions of Americans have been deceived this year in a massive Russian “misinformation campaign.”

Quote
In casting the group behind this website as “experts,” the Post described PropOrNot simply as “a nonpartisan collection of researchers with foreign policy, military and technology backgrounds.” Not one individual at the organization is named. The executive director is quoted, but only on the condition of anonymity, which the Post said it was providing the group “to avoid being targeted by Russia’s legions of skilled hackers.”

it's a long article with an admittedly inflammatory title but still worth reading

Patton Oswalts written (and deleted) way more offensive and insensitive tweets than that. Even about people who aren't about to be the most best luxurious huge handed powerful human in the world. (Once Jill Stein's war against democracy is stopped.)

it never occurred to me that Robert Mugabe was actually older than Fidel flipping Castro. Must have the same nutritionist as Cheney.
Both Confucius Peace Prize winners! (Along with Kofi Annan and Vladimir Putin!)

Du Muoi, the "retired" General Secretary of the Vietnam Communist Party will turn 100 if he makes it to February 2nd. The also "retired" "number one" of North Korea will be 89 two days later.

If we ignore the Eternal President Kim Il-Sung, Casto had 16 extra years of power over Mugabe, who is old but came late to it. Paul Biya of Cameroon is only 83 and needs under 11 years to top Castro.

Personal favorite Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea who kicked out his uncle in 1979 is only 74 and needs just under 15 years. Same for Jose Eduardo dos Santos of Angola who is also 74. Both have been in power a few months longer than Mugabe and are much younger.

The two guys outside of Africa with a shot at Castro's title are Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan if you include his time as head of the Soviet Republic, he needs 20 years and is 76. A better shot is probably Hun Sen of Cambodia who needs 21 years but is only 64.

Of course, this changes if you want to dock Casto for his five years of "medical leave" or if you want to award him for his last five years where he technically turned things over to Raul.

Chiang Kai-shek racked up the #2 count at almost 49 years, despite being ousted twice and having to depart for Taiwan the second time.

The Western Hemisphere is totally weaksauce. Stroessner and Trujillo are the only ones to crack 31 years and thus top Stalin. And Trump's already 70! He'd have to hit age 101!

If Diaz hadn't "respected democracy" like a chump, he would had it in the bag for the West.

Dick Cheney is actually only 75. Or 3 in cyborg recharge-cycle units. He was just 60 years old when he ordered 9/11. He's only five years older than W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

The phaseout was always announced as taking 5+ years, and this contract is a reduction of 8-24% at that one facility over two years.

"AHA! BETRAYAL!" seems to be a bit extreme, but the follow-up reporting and advocacy is still welcome.

It's not like it was very likely that the US would be represented by her highest officials (if at all) anyway, skipping funerals of controversial heads of states is not a new thing (so is the practice of aknowledging in a polite & respectful way the passing of one, even rivals and enemies).

I always wondered if the high level politicians that love to make those stark black & white statements were just surfing on the wave of public opinion or are just oblivious to the most basic diplomacy.

theringer arguing for banning Trump from twitter lol

Lately, I feel you have the fix the media's fuckwaddery in order to make sure Trump doesn't get 8 years. As long as they stick to instant news and outrage then they reward Trump. I wonder if his recent tweets are just fire stoking to keep that tactic available. Imagine if Trump had to actually spend as much money as Hillary did to get re-elected. Hell, imagine if he had to battle in the arena of policy and ideas.
