Can they make those video stills any less flattering?  :doge

They all have to feature Tucker Carlson, so there's a limit to what they can do.

The gender wage gap is not a myth. It's not quite 78 cents on the dollar once you adjust for some factors, but it's not 1:1 either.

 :picard

Fuck you.

Edit: here you go, fucker.

http://ftp.iza.org/dp9656.pdf

So the estimate from the most rigorous study done to date has it at 92 cents. And even if the remaining 8 cents really is a motherhood penalty instead of discrimination, that's still an issue that could be partly mitigated with policies like paid family leave and whatnot.

I like how you conclude that the "best" study is the one that agrees better with your preconceived notions even though it still disproves the feminist myth of 70+ cents a dollar. For the record there are others that concluded on 96, 98 and so on.

They're still going on about this fucking inauguration shit? harrisonfordwhogivesashit.gif

I thought the important issue here was the super secret deep ties between Trump and Putin. What happened to that?

You mean Trump can't get over his hissy fit lol?

If there is one issue I have with at least cable news, it's that they will let themselves get dragged along if you lead them. For good and bad.

Until Trump moves on the press will keep following....That includes internally since it seems his staff's aides leak like a sieve.

Before the election I was working on a plan to set aside enough money to take a year off of work in order to document the run up to Brexit (assuming Article 50 was invoked) and the changing face of the EU.  But now it looks like the bigger story is at home.  There are already people defense forcing the internment of journalists for the crime of doing their jobs during the inauguration protests.

First of all, it's not a wage gap but an income one. There's a huge difference.

It is referred to in the common parlance as "the wage gap." Yes, it's an income gap. No, I'm not unaware of the technical difference. Yes, you're being a cock.

I know GAF isn't real life but reading the thread about the border wall (on which Trump wants to get the ball rolling today) I get the feeling some people are way too optimistic about the legislative branch willingness to outright antagonize the White House, especially this early. I mean they didn't make a fuss on all of the Cabinet confirmations. Yeah maybe the so called "fiscal conservatives" will get finicky with how the funding is setup (though as already said here, they can probably defund a lot of safety net and aid stuff and get cheered for it), but I don't think they'll stomp on this : I mean that's one of the core measures he was elected for.

Also I feel the hope that Trump would head a slacker presidency is fading fast. They seem to fire on all cylinders.
When George W. Bush had a Republican Congress, they had no problem passing expensive bills (two tax cuts, two wars, and drug coverage for the elderly) without any offsetting spending cuts. Their constituencies didn't care either. The cost of the wall is very small compared to any one of those.

Honestly, Trump could "repeal" the ACA and reinstate it essentially as is  at even a great cost and republicans would think it's the best thing ever. They don't care at all about spending when their guy is the one spending (see Reagan and Bush jr)

So there's a draft executive order of a blanket ban on immigrants and refugees from a few Middle Eastern countries while making an exception for non-Muslims, along with plans to pass a bill making it legal to discriminate against LGBTQ folks, on the basis of freedom of religion. Did I get that right?

If they were wise that is exactly what they should of done. Fix what they broke(the reinsurance program), change things a bit on the margins and declare victory.

Instead it seems like all they can agree on is repealing the tax increase on the rich, building around high deductible plans, shifting subsidies toward the rich, and block granting Medicaid. Basically unless Democrats are truly broken, they should easily be able to poison them.

What about the National Park Service accounts? Trump simply doesn't care about that because it isn't bad-mouthing him?

Still, to live in an age where "alternate" Twitter/social media accounts are made to "resist" the incoming government law/mandates... cest la vie.

Considering the flurry of alarming drafts for executive orders, sort of bills expected or what is to be reviewed I think we're already up to date on what this administration is... How the loony sausages are being made is of secondary importance and will be for the history books.

EDIT :

"I'll absolutely do safe zones in Syria for the people," [Trump] added, without giving details.

"The Secretary of State, in conjunction with the Secretary of Defense, is directed within 90 days of the date of this order to produce a plan to provide safe areas in Syria and in the surrounding region in which Syrian nationals displaced from their homeland can await firm settlement, such as repatriation or potential third-country resettlement," the draft order said.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Pence and other Republicans start publicly criticizing Trump's methods as a last ditch effort to control him before resigning. The only way to get him to do anything he doesn't want is by bruising his ego. And the reason I mention the VP is that he is probably the most helpless feeling motherfucker in the world.

I truly get the feeling that Republicans don't have confidence in their ability to guide the country with Trump at the helm.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/25/us/politics/trump-bernhard-langer-voting-fraud.html

Quote
The witnesses described the story this way: Mr. Langer, a 59-year-old native of Bavaria, Germany — a winner of the Masters twice and of more than 100 events on major professional golf tours around the world — was standing in line at a polling place near his home in Florida on Election Day, the president explained, when an official informed Mr. Langer he would not be able to vote.

Quote
Ahead of and behind Mr. Langer were voters who did not look as if they should be allowed to vote, Mr. Trump said, according to the staff members — but they were nonetheless permitted to cast provisional ballots. The president threw out the names of Latin American countries that the voters might have come from.

Mr. Langer, whom he described as a supporter, left feeling frustrated, according to a version of events later contradicted by a White House official.

:lol :lol :lol Trump really has no clue. A white foreigner  couldn't vote but some brown Americans could.

Quote
The anecdote, the aides said, was greeted with silence, and Mr. Trump was prodded to change the subject by Reince Priebus, the White House chief of staff, and Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas.

People are talking about the balls of Pena Nieto but is not so much about balls than Trump not leaving him with another option than not to play. Is political suicide for him and his party to do the meeting when Trump tries to insist about the wall BS in public at twitter, dunno if Trump understands how willing was the Mexico goverment in at least make a deal if he played the diplomacy game but he just make it impossible. Mexico has been bullied by US before but by people that actually understands how politics works here.

We are fucked economically, but there was no other way after that shitty twitter ultimatum. There is no benefit neither for Pena, his party and for Mexico in having a meetig with Trump when is clear he doesnt want to make a fair deal in any capacity.

That's just a different angle of Spencer getting wrekt the first time. You can see the exact same sign behind him and he's wearing the exact same outfit.

I'd be quite surprised if that White House leaks and rogue national parks twitter accounts for legit.

Also, prediction: at some point Mexico is going to contribute money to some joint venture, and Trump's allies will claim this is their payment for the wall.

edit: Sean Spicer said it would be paid for by a 20% tariff on imports from Mexico. I have no idea what that would take legally, or whether to put any stock in anything Spicer says at this point.

That whole spy stuff in Russia could be coincidental (or maybe Russia feels safe they can bag them without this POTUS pushing back too much) but it's surreal to sit here and seriously ponder the idea that Trump or one of his close associate are Russian assets.

Trump didn't pivot but the times might be pivotal.
