he's right, though he should have said "especially" in regards to the intelligence committees
congressional oversight and investigation has long been a joke, and it's only gotten infinitely worse since 9/11 and "national security" presumptions took hold
even the partisan witchhunts headed nowhere take so long because of the executive branch's presumption to deny things even exist for months to years before admitting they exist but denying access to everything rather than comply
to use the Hillary e-mails as an example, State stonewalled for nearly two years before finally admitting they essentially couldn't comply in the first place...the private e-mail server reveal could have happened in early 2014 rather than mid-2015...Gowdy would have had much greater trouble keeping the Benghazi committee open through all of 2016 without the ability to bring back Blumenthal and Hillary in fall 2015 over the e-mails if he (and the media) had them when his committee opened in 2014 and they were the same exact nothing (note for Jack: I'm not blaming Clinton, she was an unintended victim of State's policy...also I used her e-mails as a popular example due to their prominence thanks to Seth Rich's sleuthing, Bush-era departments were doing this same kind of thing, I have to assume so are Trump's)
apologies if any of those dates are off, i didn't check them, and the example is more important than the factual content
the same thing happens at the state level, even when you have an anarchist processing FOIA requests
