breh, that shit will get tied up in courts quicker than you can say beast mode. He would have to prove to the judges that there is a national emergency.

Although he would be doing it in increasingly conservative courts.

I actually think, from what I have read, there is the possibility he could make it through the other side by taking non-appropriated slush funds in the defense department, though it would require a level of message discipline and competency the administration and Trump has yet to show....So probably not.

the whole thing was one big grift. They sent out emails to his supporters before and after the televised address asking for donations for the "official wall fund" and in small print it said that the money would go towards his reelection campaign.

 :neogaf :trumps

Of course it was.

The wall was 'made up' by Roger Stone because he noticed Trump would forget to talk about immigration.
So to have him remember to talk migration during his rumblings they came up with the wall.
It A/B tested pretty well with the crowd as well.

The Democrats seem to forget that they're negotiating with a deranged lunatic who wants to be at the center of attention.
Which is why he's proud of the Trump shutdown. If anything the news is all about Donald Trump again.

Warren's campaign didn't even make a blip on the radar. All the Democrats can do is talk about how they don't plan to fund a wall.
The Trump deadzone is just sucking up all the attention and talking points.

Or as he wrote (or didn't) in his book: "there is no bad publicity, all publicity is good publicity".
Which is probably why he blocked that bipartisan funding bill. Not because it lacks the wall but because he wasn't a part of it.

The media and democrats once again find themselves fighting a battle on Trump's terms. During the lunch he told them that he didn't care about the speech and it wouldn't matter much but aides told him he should do it.
He'll drag this out all the way to the supreme court if he as to unless he gets bored or something else comes up that attracts more cameras.

The reason he turned so many cabinet positions into 'acting' positions is probably because it got so much attention from the press. Did he ever name a new UN ambassador?

Eh, the reason why there's so many acting positions currently is because Trump and his administration is having a tough time finding people that are qualified, and then getting them though the senate. Trump keeps on burning bridges with his own Republican members in the senate. I think that's part of the reason why Barr hasn't been confirmed yet, Trump has given no reason to force the Senate to be as efficient as possible.

I remember it was a really widely held belief on the right that Obama was a narcissist, and they'd count the number of times he said "I" and "me" whenever he made a speech.

"You shouldn't respond to lies from Trump/the right wing because that won't stop them from repeating the lie" seems to be a pretty popular sentiment among left-ish pundits, but I remember Obama's team made a point of getting out in front on this sort of thing, after Kerry was perceived as flubbing the swiftboat accusations (not wanting to dignify them and letting them go unchallenged for a while).

Yeah. She could've definitely handled it better (if you're running a Democratic primary addressing an issue that relates to a minority group, REACH OUT TO THAT MINORITY GROUP FIRST), but it's the difference between Trump constantly calling her Pocahontas and Trump constantly calling her Pocahontas while the media runs headlines about her "continuing to dodge the issue" or whatever.

Of course this whole thing is a line of attack because lots of white people believe that nonwhite people have a huge advantage in academia and employment. Heard way too many 40+ year olds (who aren't even #MAGA or obviously foaming at the mouth) say something like "of course it would be hard for them to fire [coworker] cause he's black" or "his kid got into [state college], which is impressive cause they save most of the slots for affirmative action these days."

I mean she could have actually spoken to some native representatives beforehand and incorporated their feedback into her response, rather than fucking up and getting blindsided for those criticisms. Not an issue of personal magnetism.

Sort of like Bernie Sanders rolling into southern states with Cornell West as his main black surrogate in the year 2016. Just take a bit more time to read the room.

Across all age categories, sharing fake news was a relatively rare category. Only 8.5 percent of users in the study shared at least one link from a fake news site. ...

But older users skewed the findings: 11 percent of users older than 65 shared a hoax, while just 3 percent of users 18 to 29 did. Facebook users ages 65 and older shared more than twice as many fake news articles than the next-oldest age group of 45 to 65, and nearly seven times as many fake news articles as the youngest age group (18 to 29).

“When we bring up the age finding, a lot of people say, ‘oh yeah, that’s obvious,’” co-author Andrew Guess, a political scientist at Princeton University, told The Verge. “For me, what is pretty striking is that the relationship holds even when you control for party affiliation or ideology. The fact that it’s independent of these other traits is pretty surprising to me. It’s not just being driven by older people being more conservative.”
