I don't think Nintex gets that sometimes a politician actually tries to act on the policies she campaigned on.

sometimes I read the Chicago Tribune editorial pieces

Quote
Many Democrats think that when voters gave them a majority in the House, they got a green light to enact bold changes in the U.S. health care system. They would be wiser to act as though they have a yellow light — which means, “proceed with caution.”

Yellow means "stop if it is safe to do so" :rage

By the way, I'm quite shocked that Kavanaugh went against Apple on Monday in the Supreme Court decision regarding the monopolistic nature of Apple's app store. That's the second time he didn't vote as expected, wasn't it?

Trump hates Silicon Valley in general, not sure why anyone is surprised his Supreme Court stooge voted against their interests (that ruling doesn't just effect Apple necessarily, although they might be the most screwed.)

No I think he actually doesn't want that war, but John Bolton certainly does and is likely finally going to get it under Trump.

Trump is the best President for a guy like Bolton to get what he wants, even more so than Dubya. His administration is such a toxic mixture of incompetence, inability to lead a complex organization, lack of desire to learn, total disinterest in the actual work of the administration, constant firings, and abundance of seats being filled by people who haven't even been approved by the Senate.

I feel like this is only true to a point.

A dual front war in Iran/Venezuela/North Korea will be dumb unpopular. The house probably won’t fund it and Trump’s tacit support is only a tucker Carlson away from complete collapse.

:confused its not his left wing policies i dislike, i just dont want a grumpy old man as president

Well that's not a very reasonable complaint so (not forums poster) Occam's razor would dictate a reasonable assumption about your opposition be made, hence the politics.

(The only other reasonable assumption is "he dared stand in the way of Dear Mother during 2016" and your brain isn't fried in that particular manner.)

A Dutch person living in one of the best countries in Europe with some of the strongest social spending on the face of the planet (very low tuition colleges, quality healthcare, a non-punitive approach to drug addiction) complaining about Bernie Sanders is absolutely wack. Doubting how many Democrats are "corporate" is another privilege of living in a country with sane campaign finance and political advertising laws. Have parties funded almost entirely by membership fees and assume everyone else's politicians are equally uncorruptible brehs :doge

No one wants higher taxes and that is what you'll need to get a safety net like we have.
Taxing the '1%' isn't enough. We have taxes for everything. Including dogs and a 21% VAT.
Hell, we have taxed the taxes.

The wealth of most Dutch is basically the result of a mortgage scheme.

As for corruption... we've pretty much legalized it.  :doge

Recently one of the Chapo hosts was making fun of Biden by pointing out his pitiful net worth in comparison to Mitch McConnell who "needs a bribe of a football field in Saudi Arabia to lift a finger (paraphrased). They put forth the idea that UnClE jOe really is a true believer in all this bullshit. He lives and dies by neoliberal centrism not because of the immense profits but because he's so phenomenally dumb he actually buys into ruling class propaganda while being part of it.

Something to think about anyway.

Politicians are either rich when they get elected (Trump, Edwards, Romney, Gore), get rich afterwards from speaking fees/book deals/corporate sinecures (Clinton, Obama, a ton of B-listers), or marry into money while they're in office (Dole, McConnell, Kerry, McCain, Ryan).

Biden had a government job for 46 years and married a community college professor. He hasn't been shy about paid speaking gigs since then but has only had a couple years of it. Don't think it goes much deeper than that.

Good point, Americans would never agree to a system where their high standard of living is kept afloat by a lifetime of debt.

I'm sure it's just a huge coincidence that 2 of the big players in corporate tax haven services in the EU (Ireland and the Netherlands respectively) have issues with real estate bubbles. Correlation is not causation, especially with money laundering!

Pretty sure all real estate bubbles are the result of Jimmy Carter's Community Reinvestment Act.

I find a lot of Sanders' fans to be pretty Sorkin-y in their faith that a single guy can right the ship by standing up for what he believes in and speaking plain truths. Which is a pretty widespread belief across different ideologies, but it's funny cause TWW has become synecdoche for the naivete of centrist libs.
