Confession time, and so that I can get out in front of it before running for office:  Halloween of grade 3, I went as Hitler.  I was super into WW2 at the time.  I have no idea why my mom let me and I was also pretty inspired by Southpark to do it.  Also my grandma was a professional costume seamstress so it was like spot-on; I looked amazing.  Like if I was trick-or-treating in Germany, I'm pretty sure the allies would have needed to get the party back together and Waterlooed my ass, cause I would have restarted a movement.

Who is supporting bootyguy, idgi

If you look at the history of Iowa Caucasus they are pretty decent on the Democrat side. Usually their top two picks end up being the front runners. The only time they got a bit nutty was in the Dukakis year when they picked Paul Simon (not the singer)  as a top candidate.

Now, ohh boy, the Iowa Republicans are looney toons, check the history on these people: in 2000, Steve Forbes was second to GWB. Then in 2008, Huckabee won, 2012: Santorum, 2016: Ted Cruz. Yikes.

During a Thursday interview, the president said he might read the transcript of the July 25th call live on television. The reading would be held as a fireside chat, recreating the famous broadcasts delivered by President Franklin Roosevelt.

“At some point, I’m going to sit down — perhaps as a fireside chat on live television — and I will read the transcript of the call,” stated President Trump. “People have to hear it — when you read it, it’s a straight call.”

Yang -> Sanders
Buttigieg - > Warren
Harris - > Biden and Warren
Booker - > maybe Warren?

OK sure but "ballgame?" Come on

The most obnoxious Sanders people are convinced Warren doesn't really want M4A and will betray them when imo it's pretty clear that she doesn't think there's much chance of it getting passed regardless of her own efforts (which is obviously true) and doesn't want to get hamstrung over something that there's little chance of implementing.

Hillary Clinton: "Andrew Yang is just another puppet of Russia to prevent our country from retaking our role as global superpower"

*Yang rides on a skateboard across the debate stage and high fives the debate moderator*

Hillary Clinton: "I would invade Syria and Iraq and kick the Russians out!"

*Yang plays Fortnite with the audience using his own character*

https://www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2019/11/01/warrens-perpetual-medicare-head-tax-is-unworkable-and-bad/

Quote
Needless to say, the Medicare Payroll Tax is far superior to the Medicare Head Tax distributively speaking. Specifically, the Medicare Head Tax charges middle and low earners massively more than the Medicare Payroll Tax does.

Elizabeth Warren’s team realizes this. The reason they are using the head tax is because they think they can trick journalists into declaring that this is not a tax, since it is expressed in dollar terms rather than percent terms. On first glance, this might seem like a stretch that probably won’t work. But it is a more plausible strategy once you consider that journalists are mostly very stupid and cannot evaluate policy claims on their own, relying instead on trusted sources and names (Warren being one of those names).

Quote
Separate from the distributive problems of Warren’s head tax, the two exclusions also make the proposal clearly unworkable and easily gamed. All companies have to do to avoid rather large head tax charges is spin off workers into independent contractor status or spin them off into firms with less than 50 employees that they then contract with for services.

Once some employers start doing this, the average Medicare Employer Contribution will have to go up to keep revenue stable, which will push even more employers to restructure their labor into independent contracting or outsourcing to small firms. And, at that point, the death spiral is off to the races.

The genius of the payroll tax, of course, is that it is unable to be evaded like this. Every dollar of labor income — even independent contractor income — is charged the same. No restructuring can save you from it.

much plans, such wonk  :doge

Romney better not even think of replacing Tulsi with another lame straight white guy though.

A bunch of these O'Rourke campaign failure explainers are hilarious. They're all "nobody was sure why he was getting media coverage in the first place" from the very same outlets that were shoving him onto covers and anointing him the next Obama. :lol

The O'Rourke campaign spent a campaign total of $15 million to rise from 8% (before announcing) to 9.5% (two weeks after announcing) to slowly drop to what was quickly becoming a trend of rounding errors in polls. Before announcing he had never dropped below 5.5% in the RCP average, he was already under that within a month of announcing. After five weeks in the campaign he never again topped 4% and struggled for long periods to get back above 3%.

On the other hand he ends the campaign with potentially up to $3 million of free money still on hand. :money

Since you're wondering, yes, Delaney has spent $26.7 million to date. (And the campaign is in debt for $10.5 million. $25 million of the campaigns cash has been his own.)
