All joking aside, it's really sad to see his family and friends don't care enough to give him the treatment he clearly needs.
Instead they rather wheel him drooling into the oval office. Joe deserved better.

Maybe they just need him alive long enough so he gets elected and afterwards they'll simply 'deepfake' his presidency.
Scary thought.

Since 2016 there's been a lot of talk about Trump crimes and blatant violations of democratic norms but is it a point in the policy platforms of the Dem candidates, do they ponder any actual institutional remedy for this ? Or is the line that it's all down to Trump being uniquely terrible ?

Vom, by democratic norms, do you mean institutional checks on power?

Weighing publically on the DOJ, stuff like that. Checks and balances too, yes.

I'm not sure what about the DOJ you're referring to (the Stone case?). It's improper but the AG is a political appointee - there's nothing in the law that says the government's lawyers can't be shitty. Obama prioritizing deportations of felons is analogous I think.

Quote
Hillary Clinton said she gave a false apology for her use of an unauthorized email server during her time as secretary of state.

"We'll just say what you did was a mistake. It was dumb. It's over. And that will end it," Clinton said in the Hulu documentary released Friday, Hillary, about her life. "I wasn't convinced of that. But I understood the frustration of my campaign."

"So against my better judgment, I said, 'OK, fine,'" she said about giving a series of interviews which led to an apology on ABC News.

"As I look back at it now, even though it was allowed, I should have used two accounts. That was a mistake. I’m sorry about that. I take responsibility," Clinton said in the September 2015 interview.

"It turned out to be a mistake because look at all the oxygen it was sucking out of my campaign. But it didn't end it," the former secretary of state said in the Hulu documentary about the criticism she received over her emails. "It didn't end it at all. And it never ended, it never ended."

Cathartic to some degree. I was pissed when she apologized, because she did nothing wrong wrt the email server and had nothing to apologize for.

Watching it now.  They played the clip of her in gym joking about, which was sooooo dumb.

Pretty good docu so far.

I wish they'd just fess up to being swingers though.

I have zero interest in taking some bogus cognitive test. I’m the sharpest I’ve ever been. I’ve been taking double dosages of Brain Force everyday to remain at my peak.

We are not playing ‘Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?’ here, this is the American presidency. Our country is in Jeopardy and I’m not taking the podium with Alex Trebek asking me questions, I have millions of people to continue talking to and having them understand that I am here to help.

Our current president has experience with game shows, so why don’t we ask him to partake in these silly tests and games. Folks, we need to stop playing Family Feud amongst the party and rally together to oust Trump and his incompetent cabinet.

I got the brain of a dolphin and the heart of a lion, dammit. Go bother the guy that pretended he didn’t have another heart attack recently. My mental and physical fitness ain’t changing. I’m at my peak.

Another thing I know is this: I ain't changing my brand. I know what I believe. I'm confident in what I know. And I'm gonna say it. And if folks like it, wonderful. If they don't like it, I understand. But you’re wrong. I’ve been doing this my entire life. Sanders didn’t even vote until he was 40. He’s a deadbeat dad that didn’t want to work.

I fought to the death every morning though the day in Scranton to eat that night.

Are you or not going to cut social security?

She did, she stupidly ran a government server from her bathroom, had Huma fax her classified information(that was shared on Weiner's pedo laptop) and then she deleted a large number of emails.
Then the FBI came in to drink tea and cover the whole thing up.

The New York office, with some push from Giuliani didn't let it go and pretty much forced Comey to say something/anything about the case.
And after sitting on his hands for months he finally decided to come out right before the election to deliver possibly the worst timed announcement in history.

I'm not surprised she still doesn't understand what she did wrong. She hardly knew how email worked.

Jesus Christ you are dumb. She had a homebrew email server in her house that had classified shit pass through it. She then deleted over 30,000 emails after a subpoena. The email archive was deleted and bleachbit was used to avoid recovering anything.

'She did nothing wrong' . . .  fuck off.

It's always annoying to see allegedly left-wing individuals gleefully leap at any chance they can to regurgitate right-wing propaganda just to score points against establishment queen Hillary Clinton. Whenever I see someone blabber about the email scandal years after its debunking I just consider it a shortcut for me to mentally assign that person an IQ of less than 70.
If you believe Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch met on the tarmac to discuss their grand kids I have a bridge to sell you.

You're right, Nintex. He probably threatened to have her killed if she didn't drop the investigation -- just like Seth Rich and Vince Foster.
That's not how something like that works.

Quote
In a classified 2012 email dealing with the new president of Malawi, another Clinton aide, Monica Hanley, advised Clinton, “We can ask Marina to print this.”

“Revisions to the Iran points” was the subject line of a classified April 2012 email to Clinton from Hanley. In it, the text reads, “Marina is trying to print for you.”

Both classified emails were marked “confidential,” the tier below “secret” or “top secret.”

Probably a controversial attention but I'm rewatching The Wire and a lot of it is this kind of bad overwriting. Still love the show but stuff like D'Angelo's chess scene or Frank Sobotka talking about how we used to build things in this country are pretty cringe. Kind of thing a high school civics teacher thinks is deep.

Now that I think about it, I think Bernie's mind is wavering too. Anytime he loses his train of thought he just reverts to his revolution/billionairs/millionaires.

The first question at the flint thing, he stood up (sign one he's distracting from being lost mid thought) then started talking about needing people to vote (sign two), then he says "to answer your question" (sign three return to lucidity briefly) "young people need to vote", and ends with "and that's the answer to your question".

So it might not be just a lack of substance in his rhetoric, I think he's been senile since he was like 25.

Always felt Sobatka's monologue was too on-the-nose, even though it sounds like something that character would say (I've been subjected to versions of that in real life plenty of times).

What really set apart the Wire's writing was the structure but when we talk about "writing" we usually just mean dialogue.

Dallas County Elections Administrator Toni Pippins-Poole discovered her office did not count about 10% of the ballots that voters cast on Super Tuesday.

She is now asking a court to let her conduct a manual recount of votes, after she discovered thumb drives containing ballots from 44 precincts that were not included in the final results.

It’s uncertain which 44 precincts are involved, how many votes are at issue, and whether the apparent winners from any races will change. Still, the 44 precincts represent almost 10% of the total precincts on Super Tuesday.

I look forward to debating him in Arizona and I will make sure to bring some children’s aspirin for his sensitive heart.
