Those "small business loans" will be useless if they don't start coming through timely.
Between this, the 1200$ checks that will arrive someday, and the unemployment websites jammed up and people unable to file for benifits...

It's gonna cost an arm and a leg to European countries and tourism, hospitality, restaurants, entertainment (live especially) are all gonna suffer a lot with large gatherings not even being on the horizon but I'm reasonably optimistic that the economy will restart as soon as lockdowns ease and that the hit on people's livehood will be minimized somewhat. Not sure I can say the same for the USA...

Production was never going to shift quick enough for the current crisis, even if they started in February, to close the structural shortcomings. Even more so considering you can't produce new medical staff in a few months to put besides it. Every hard hit place has already called in every reserve, retired professionals and students they could throw in that furnace & is converting beds to "ICU" as fast as they could.

Staying in and losing states by wide margins wasn't exactly going to increase his leverage anyways.

He can probably do more the next half year by influencing all the emergency legislation in the Senate than nominally changing the party platform at the convention. ie when Scott/Graham/Sasse threatened the phase III bill over the unemployment provision and he made a counter-threat over the bailout funds and they backed down.

I wouldn't think Sanders position is weakened in that remote hypothetical, he's still the runner up and he would still be railroaded out of the nomination, whether the campaign was technically on or off.
