https://christiansocialism.com/christianity-anti-fascism-trump-2020/

Quote
There is no ex nihilo fascism. The political, social and economic conditions that delivered Trump are just as important as Trump himself (a point often lost on both liberals and Never Trump conservatives). American history is full of its own fascistic movements and right-wing coups, from the rise of the KKK during Reconstruction, to the Christian Front, to the Jim Crow South, to white power militias. America’s own frontier mythologies and white supremacist race science influenced  Hitler and those who crafted Nazi race laws. Clearly, Trump is not an imported crisis. He is a distinctly American creation, emerging from a long, homegrown history of fascistic American movements and white supremacy that has been energized by the War on Terror’s stoking of nativist energies, the failed reformism of the Obama presidency, the abandonment of the working class by the Democratic Party, the racist resentment at the heart of the GOP, an anemic left, and the deepening anti-democratic effects of neoliberalism. Now an already anti-democratic, racialized and ecologically unstable order is helping give birth to even more dangerous political possibilities.

Honestly, the information itself didn't shock me as much as the interview in audio form did. Trump sounds very sober and aware of the potential damage. He sounds like he has the facts and knows of its danger. He sounds like an actual leader in the audio interview. It's a side of Trump I've never seen.

And yet, rather than being transparent with the populace about the dangers he politicized it and tried to sweep it under the rug to "not freak people out."

Then there's the fact Bob Woodward sat on this for SIX. MONTHS. without revealing it. The argument that "Trump wouldn't change anything" is also daft. The presses concern is not toppling those in power - not outright - but informing the public. Why was the public not informed that this happened? It's gross negligence on both sides.

Far less open Trump support than 2016. A lot of the vocal political people seem to have discovered the Libertarian party instead. Then again I work in IT support so maybe I'm not around the real meatheads.

I have a feeling the highest levels are tired of dealing with Trump, after all they have to work with him. I'm sure it gets old lol.

I'm scared of going to my physical school site because the virus is rampant in my area and giving the virus to my parents who I live with. Even the worst response under Hillary would have still meant a national response to dealing with coronavirus, and that would have likely meant less people infected overall.

So was Hillary sounding the alarm on covid 8 months ago, or was she still pushing the Russia hoax and shilling her book? In the end it was up to the individual States to take action for their people. If drumpf said publically what he knew privately, the fake news would have said the opposite and we would be in the same place.

Doesn't matter who the leader is, Americans would have acted distinguishedly. The most Democrat leaning States are the most fucked with covid. Trump isn't responsible for the China Plague.

It would be nice if we could rewind the simulation and see what an alternate timeline looks like, but chances are it would have been even worse.

So your contention is that the U.S. would have failed anyway? Why is that an endorsement of giving Trump another 4 years?

From the sounds of this quote from you, you agree with me:

Quote
People get mad at Trump and they should because he is a truly reprehensible trash human, but half of the country thought he was the best man to do the job. That sin is far worse and more damning than whatever Trump himself has done. That dumbness stays whenever Trump leaves whether its in 4 years or this fall.

Quote from: Tripon

The film has been rated "All Audiences" for its theater release here. I know we're a bunch of Gallic filthy pervs but I seriously doubt there's anything all that visually vulgar and exploitative about it.
It's a pretty lowbrow argument but maybe if you're seeing CHILD PORN everywhere, you're projecting a bit.

Nah, I wouldn’t care about the film if it was not for the controversy. I feel people have a point bringing the exploitation angle (but it seems Europeans consider this tame :yeshrug ) but saying stuff like “is creating child trafficking” is like WTF. You guys will going nuts if stuff like KIDS or Ken Parks come in today climate.

There's something to the hidden vote that these people keep talking about. Trump retweets those clips all the time like the one below. Here's CNN for example, interviewing a nurse in North Carolina who starts to praise Trump's COVID policies.
She fits the profile of a Hillary/Biden Democrat voter a young educated woman who should be appalled by Trump's actions and deeds according to the media. But she defends his corona virus response on CNN, leaving the interviewer with little to say.

https://twitter.com/Rachael1418/status/1301921300965974016

The Democrats are making the same mistake that the pro-EU factions did in the UK when they thought the Brexit campaign was 12 months and not 30+ years.
Trump is still campaigning against the failures of every administration post Reagan. While the Democrats are campaigning against the past 4 years of Trump.

Trump's biggest weaknesses are COVID-19 and the social unrest. Two things many people don't solely blame him for.
What surprises me the most is how poorly some of the Democrat states are run. If Jeff Bezos, Mike Bloomberg and all don't want another 4 years of Trump, they should've bailed out California and New York and shored up the home turf.
They could've made Trump's way of governing look bad compared to 'really well run' Democrat states. But that didn't really happen, in most cases the opposite did and they all spend 4 years chasing a Russian ghost and trying to curb stomp the left wing of their party. And that last point also leaves a voter base that is apathetic and doesn't really know what side to pick in this fight or their candidate is no longer in the race, so they're less likely to vote.
