I don't know about you but I don't like it when people bring up sex stuff within like an hour of knowing them. Turns me off. So I wouldn't make a sex joke or whatever with a tinder girl like that. So I caved in and got into a dating app (one that only offer a handful of matches a day... To men anyway.) a few days ago. Not much to say so far except it's humbling for the most part, also hilariously diabolical in how it nudges you to pay for tokens.

Only ray of light has been a very cute 25 years old US expatriate (wayyyy out of my league socially, I suspect, she graduated from a worldwide famous university) who apparently digged my photos. Trying to get in touch with her because, who knows, maybe she fancies the idea of flirting with some french blue collar schmuck ? Or her finger ripped while ranking me 

Otherwise women who liked my photos are fairly unattractive so far (that's cruel but true and not in a sharp knees way) and several are teachers (?). I guess I look homely and that wouldn't be unfair a characterization. I don't really have fancy photos of myself and I hate selfies (and they're always more merciless than the plain good ones I have) so I decided to be forward and honest, disclose that I'm a happy smoker and a drinker. Apparently NO ONE ever drink or smoke more than "socially", color me skeptical.

My other thoughts :
- The fuck at people putting photos not even showing their face properly or those horrible filters ? Not to mention the abuse of soft lighting, blurry (or artefacted), night scenes, gaudy make ups, duckfaces, super claustrophobic closeups or horrible Snapchat dogface filters. I get women wanting to look their best but I do need to see you to have an idea.
- Plenty of cute & attractive women still, so I just need to luck on one eventually.
- Lots of people in marketing, HR, IT, sales, engineers plus teachers and nurses. All perfectly fine jobs, mind you, but there's definitely a very middle class / upper middle class club feel going on.

I used to get a bit nervous when dealing with very socially-acute women (in fact nearly all of my girlfriends have had introversion as the one thing in common) - I've been told "you don't really seem to fit in with my friends, you're too shy" before by some of said women. I was talking to a therapist friend of mine and I brought up the whole "man, dating nowadays seems a disaster." Apparently I touched a nerve, cause she went into a massive diatribe about some of her clients are terrible and that she's like "Puppy I've literally watched a client of mine talk about how she's gone through hundreds of men's profiles to somehow consistently settle on the most immature and toxic men she could possibly find."  My friend went on and on about she's all about being selective and thinks its important, but you gotta pick someone good after all that excluding, that and she talks about how some people think they got the difference between casual hook ups/fwb and actual relationships completely messed up.

As we talked we sorta came to the conclusion that people have more ability to have whatever kind of relationship you want, since largely most taboos are gone, it's just that people haven't gotten the skills/maturity to deal with the choice.

Another big thing about online dating is these companies running the sites and apps dont give a shit if anyone is getting laid or if relationships begin.

The amount of shit behind different paywalls is ridiculous. Pay 15 bucks to see a time stamp of when someone received your message, along with very basic search filters. Really basic shit that helps people that feel either picky or desperate.

Getting laid shouldn't be some charity work done by a company, but it feels like there's microtransactions for getting laid. It reminds me of videogame style hooks and addiction in a strange way.
