Walmart Canada will start charging a set of new fees to its suppliers as a way to recover some of the costs associated with its $3.5-billion modernization plan — a move that has some manufacturers “absolutely furious,” according to an industry rep.

In a letter to its more than 3,000 suppliers on Friday afternoon, Walmart characterized the new fees — up to 6.25 per cent of the cost of goods — as a reasonable trade-off, since the multi-billion-dollar upgrades to stores and e-commerce will lead to sales growth for suppliers.

Does this mean chefs also need to get a title change? It would be funny to go to a haute cuisine restaurant and ask for the Cook's Special.

Perfect allegory of why identity politics are a dumb farce instead of an actual problem solver.

I don't think that really is the same as identity politics proper, I think that's an example of the business class trying to adjust to a new cultural landscape - like it's always done. The political changes themselves are consequential. anyway you're yuropeon so opinion automatically discredited

Lamborghini has just unveiled a new supercar, known as the Essenza SCV12, that owners won't be able to legally drive on public roads. That's why, if you buy one, Lamborghini recommends you let the company keep it for you in a special garage at the company's headquarters in Italy.

Owners will have access to a secure web cam feed so they can look at the car whenever they want. If they want to drive the car, Lamborghini will arrange for it to be transported to almost any racetrack in the world and the owner will be able to drive it there. Lamborghini will also provide a professional racecar driver to provide coaching in how to get the most speed and enjoyment from their V12-powered supercar. The company will host a few special events throughout the year to let Essenza SCV12 owners get together and enjoy their cars as a group.

I don't find this one that weird, it's probably not the first street illegal car model (or vehicle) to be sold. Taking charge of the warehouse (with, I imagine, some fee attached either one time or as a recurring charge) is maybe a move to a subscription model though.

There have been cars sold that weren't street legal before (truthfully this sounds like they're making GT1 / GT2 cars available to the public), but the whole, "Why don't you buy this thing meant to be taken anywhere with roads, leave it with us because you can't do that with this, then trust us to ship it wherever you want when needed," thing is very much some tech "solving a problem that doesn't exist" drivel. It even has SaaS stuff with the security cam and driving instructors.

It's also demonstrative of the massive wealth inequality brought to us by our liberal friends. (Hey dog, we heard you like being a gas guzzler, so we sold a product that makes you gas guzzle in order to gas guzzle.)

Sitting in a teachers backyard with 10 other kids sounds so fucking terrible. Growing up, every Saturday I had to go to Islamic school in classes that size and it was the worst. Like every hour it'd be your turn to answer questions, you didn't have enough people to do any proper group/team collaboration, and the recess facilities were pretty lacking.

Also one of the biggest advantages of centralized schooling is that you can have different teachers for different subjects and you also have better distribution of accessibility resources. Now take the type of mother fucker who would teach kids in their backyard for an uber eats gift card, and imagine how they would act if they saw a couple students had dyslexia, ADD, etc....

Each F35 cost $77.9m to build. Could you imagine if that money went directly to families ?
Now launching my backyard & garage workshop to build and assemble one (1) F35 fighter jet. DoD in my DMs if interested.

Wow, you just invented the same fucking thing as a school  :lol

Can you imagine we have no expenses if we have no facilities?  :pika

Reminds me of a discussion I had with a guy who had opened up his house to a few friends so they can work there.
I told him: "So you've made an office?"

"No it's my house, but we have desks and we work"

"So an office?"

You need at least 6 core subject teachers for one student in middle and high school.

Even if there's no regulation on that stuff (America, amirite ?) and that you really think Third World open air country schools you sometimes see in aspirational videos provides equivalent education than a modern (underfunded as it is) establishment...  You'd probably need at least 2 or 3 teachers in case, I dunno, one gets sick ? Not even getting into the obvious matter of finding a Renaissance teacher proficient in all basic courses.

If it wasn't for the kids that would get crippled by terrible education, I'd like for that guy to soldier through and realize that without mutualisation he's into a money pit far, far more expensive than the "ludicrous" amount of public funding per head.
