Mario Odyssey looks like a ridiculous, charming, fever dream. Had a smile on my face the entire trailer. And it's earlier than expected! Hopefully I can finish TEW2 before it hits.

Three all-new game announcements including Metroid Prime 4 means Wrath, username and bluemax BTFO.

Xenoblade 2 is still this year, an actual surprise!

Zelda DLC looks OK.

Mario Odyssey looks great, but otherwise it was meh.

I got real excited for Metroid Prime 4 until I saw the "now in development" tag I blame Sony for opening the floodgates with FF7R and Shenmue 3. Now you can show the logo and people will lose their minds and declare you as victor of a trade show.

Haven’t seen Sony’s yet, but going by announcements for them compared to MS’s and Nintendo’s things:

Microsoft: C

Dragged things out for 1.5 hours with extended gameplay for games that I didn’t find appealing. Plus $500 hurt them. Props for still keeping it game-focused.

Sony: C+

They announced Monster Hunter: World and the Shadow of the Colossus remake and kept it under an hour. I'm a simple man.

Nintendo: B

Aside from a few minutes of Reggie, Nintendo’s was mostly a gameplay trailer montage packed into 25 minutes. Odyssey looks amazing and is coming earlier than expected. Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon announcements were a welcome surprise, but no footage. No third-party shockers or service announcements (like their future online plans or Virtual Console.)

New game announcements don't matter if you only show CGI or a Logo without any real footage. I'm glad I know it's coming, but when?

I mean it's so contradictory to Nintendo's M.O. I have to feel they don't feel comfortable including their western first-party devs in Directs outside E3 for some strange reason. Otherwise they could have easily announced it in a December direct or something.

I'm also expecting Prime 4 won't be out until 2019, lol.

I was also really hoping Retro would get to do a new IP, but ah well.

Also, damn. October is stacked this year.

Yeah! Hopefully I can finish The Evil Within 2 before Odyssey hits.

E3 didn't suck but there were no earthshakers. If Prime 4 had a trailer it definitely would have made waves after the pitiful amount that was announced overall.
