His only play was to say "OK, we are back to the old gaf. Every banned member is getting a second chance, lets be positive and try to recreate what was lost in recent years"

Instead he wants nothing of the old GAF back, doesn't want the hyper woke, or any politics at all. But with all the people that made up the old GAF gone, along with the people who like the newer more woke GAF, what is left?

The Amir0x story was the catalyst for the sexual harassment implosion. The mods suppressed the hell out of it, but enough people found out to be wary about the site specifically because of the suppression and Evilore's blatant lying. The harassment story was getting suppressed, and it was also about the site owner himself, and this is all coming after weeks of people discussing high profile sexual harassment and how widespread it is. It was also building up for several days, some people might have caught wind of it before shit actually went down. Regardless, Evilore is mostly to blame for his spectacular failure in handling both situations. If he hadn't let the site go down for two days just so he could say "bitches be crazy", maybe GAF would still be alive. His Besada-sized ego ensured that nobody wants to stick around with him anymore.

It's because Weinstein got taken down and the #MeToo movement gave people confidence that they could speak. Power in numbers, no single person had to bare the skeptical dissidents. Plus increased awareness and activism towards those particular issues.

Gaf having just staked it's moral line in the sand couldn't pull a heel turn just because it landed on their shores. When seeing all that, It's not so weird. It was a perfect storm. It's just disappointing that it takes a perfect storm, while on any other day complacency reigns.

Depends on implementation and your DB setup. GAF being so much bigger, certain operations have a large order of function and would be too load intensive given it's user base. Resetera is small and new.
