I thought NeoGAF would hold up for much longer than this, but something about the whole place just feels very half-hearted.  It seems like it's just the same 50-60 topics cycling up and down the front page, accumulating replies very slowly.

Even a System Wars flamebait thread like "Why doesn't Sony care about its past?" just gets a tepid response.....it's been up all day and is only on Page 3.  On old NeoGAF that thing would have spiraled to a half dozen pages in a matter of hours.

I find myself not caring that much about this resistera thing. Like, I don't care for what they represent, but as long as besada or bish isn't at the helm, I guess good for them. Let them do their thing, is my attitude. :'( :'( I doubt I'll be checking that site much.

And kicking around GAF's decaying corpse has lost its luster as well. Like, Amir0x, Evilore, Bish, Besada and Bobby Roberts all got their shit wrecked. It's more than anything I've ever wanted. But now that things wrapped themselves up in a neat little bow, I find myself wishing that the old GAF was still around and I could read Benji's spergy-yet-witty comments, or crack a joke or two about Dennis desperately wanting to be back on GAF.

All those moments will be lost in time.. like tears in the rain.. time to die.

I don't know where they got their info. I think only Kagari was initially going to be a mod on reset, but not anymore. Polygon story definitely fit into the conspiracies some had about this being a pre-planned thing or whatever. Oh well, people gonna believe what they want anyway.

The vibe on resetera is surprisingly positive with a focus on the actual games and not injecting gender politics everywhere. Like GAF before the Woke were welcomed with open arms by the Peds and co.

I suppose it's entirely possibly that NeoGAF was kept running full-speed not by its 100,000+ members, but by 10,000 or less people who were just incredibly active and enthusiastic.  Evilore will probably always have more users, but if those people aren't really all that enthused or talkative it doesn't matter.

If one was making a spiritual successor to NeoGAF, the case sounds a hell of a lot more convincing if your site has former staff are involved. It looks like they (whoever talked to polygon) tried to show a deeper connection to the old guard than there actually was as a way to help legitimize the new joint. So basically, they lied. 

But yeah, the Polygon article was weird. It said "former mods" and then rattled off names like Nibel and Shinobi.  I was like

Haven't been to Chucks in a while. It was always clear to me that a relatively small number of very active members were responsible for giving NeoGAF its character. Once they were driven off in favor of chasing the woke crowd the atmosphere just changed and it wasn't the same hardcore insider-gaming forum.

And everything became super serious. Everyone looking to be outraged, nobody could take a joke anymore.

Some names on the new admin and moderator list is unfamiliar to me and I wouldn't be surprised if some former moderators are on ResetEra under a new name.

The "mods are making Reset" was a bullshit rumor but there are a number of former mods on the site. They're just all regular members. The jist I get is that most of them were too exhausted of dealing with Evilore and GAF to want to jump into modding again. Can't say I blame them.

To be fair Evilore hasn't put any time or effort into Twitter for like years now.  It's pretty obvious he doesn't want to engage in any platforms where he can't ban/silence/delete anyone that displeases him.  If someone were to just waltz up to him and say "Hey there Elrond, have you grabbed any tight asses lately?" and it stayed in the public record, it would drive him nuts.

I wouldn't be surprised if NeoGAF moderators are still moderating at ResetERA, under different names.  They all probably know that they burned all their collective credibility, since people will collectively hold them responsible for covering up Evilore's misdeeds for years.

Somebody like Besada is probably smart enough to know that his name is dirt with a large number of people at this point.  If he's modding there I imagine it's under a different handle.

I recall a day or two (or three) ago that gossip stated there was an argument about wherher there should be new or old mods on the new site. It’s entirely possible that beseda and Kagari were originally going to be included, but then the “new mods” people won out.

Everyone is so sensitive these days. Happy to have found this place and after lurking a bit decided to join now. Even today I was banned by giantbomb because I made a joke about someone having adhd in regards to their computer setup with 10 monitors running at once.

Was getting spammed by like dozen ppl then mod pinged and banned for making a joke about a mental disorder. Mod then chatted with me at length about how hurtful my post was and how it could lead to tragedy. It got worse but yeah I left and now here.

Thing is that the kind of people Besada actively tried to get banned are likely people that those at Reset ERA would ban themselves in an instant.  So those notorious  Besada pms should not really hurt his cause.
