It's the number one reason I'm doubtful of ResetEra.  Some of the mods aren't even 18 yet and their perception of what a forum is has been shaped by GAF.  Maybe they'll be cool but they're starting from a restrictive set of expectations.

I disagree.  I didn't think Zelda was that great at all.  It got really boring and repetitive after about an hour or too.  And the few dungeons that were in the game all literally had the same boss pretty much.  The game on its own isn't bad, but as a Zelda game, it really sucks and I really don't understand why it's getting so much high praise.

For me, it wasn’t these allegations that did it. It was shutting down the site, locking off OT, and (the biggest one) making mods invisible. All that coupled with Tyler’s raging hypocrisy of trying to still look like a good little liberal and acting like it was all done to improve the board and not cover his own ass. Fuck that noise.

In the end, people were already looking for any halfway decent excuse and he gave them one.

I know what you mean.  I'm enjoying Golf Story much more than anything Nintendo themselves has put out on Switch so far.  Hoping Mario grabs me the same way that 64 and Sunshine did this weekend.  It looks promising.

My biggest gripe was that there seldom was any proper payoff for your exploration. The feeling of being able to go anywhere was unprecedented at times, but then too often you'd find nothing but crappy orbs and strength test chambers. Even if you saw exploration only as preparing for Ganon, that kind of fell flat, because Ganon was so easy that you could probably beat him after exploring/looting only a fraction of the map.

My sole counterpoint would be that it's a *handheld* Zelda title, and it has easily one hundred hours of content while looking quite gorgeous. Just approach it from an Ubisoft fan perspective. Huge map, constant stream of "activities", loads of collectibles/unlockables, and due to the overly fragile weapons you're always busy with something or other.

If  I may, I'd like to add the over-reliance on the shitty inventory/pause screen to the top of the list of grievances. That's the only thing I just cannot get used to.

The weapon fragility is one of my main gripes. I don't even mind that they're breakable, but they are really way too flimsy. That's not even realistic. Swords don't break very often. They just get dull and chip and can be fixed. If they wanted to make it more realistic, they would've added forges in different towns where you could repair your equipment for rupees. Which would actually make people mine for rupees and keep playing the game more.
