The weapon fragility is one of my main gripes. I don't even mind that they're breakable, but they are really way too flimsy. That's not even realistic. Swords don't break very often. They just get dull and chip and can be fixed. If they wanted to make it more realistic, they would've added forges in different towns where you could repair your equipment for rupees. Which would actually make people mine for rupees and keep playing the game more.
Yeah, but it's only my number two gripe.
Entering the inventory during a fight breaks immersion and intermittently pauses the game, which destroys the flow -and any semblance of challenge. Unless an incoming hit will oneshot you even at fully boosted health, you can always pause right up to the very last frame and eat some crap to survive it. Which makes the unbearably annoying cooking mechanic even worse. You have to have a good supply of food on hand. So you have to cook. Which consists of a wild mix of button presses in a terrible UI, topped with a skippable animation and popup window. All around terrible.
Number three for me is that arrows are consumables instead of bombs. You genuinely need bombs like once in a blue moon, but arrows are in constant demand. Yet you have infinite (uselessly specialised) bombs and need to gather or buy your arrows like some shrub. Can't even craft them... I think. The best way to acquire them is stand in the field like a doofus and let archer enemies shoot at you while you hide behind a shield. Zero challenge, no actual gameplay, boring stuff. A cooking recipe using some firewood and flint would be a welcome mod.
Yeah, I hated that. I hated that you had to go into the inventory to drop or unequip a weapon when it's raining and things like that. It let's you do certain things on the fly, but not others, which is puzzling. And then you have all the different menus, with two different buttons for different parts of the menu. The UI is very clunky.
I disagree about the arrows, I found bombs more useful, but that may be a preference thing. I have collected enough arrows from enemy drops to get me through whatever I need to do. I use bombs all the time to mine for gemstones, so I don't have to break my weapons.
I think the cooking system is flawed. What's the point of giving you ingredients like rock salt when there's zero benefit in trying to actually cook up something decent? I have 90+ rock salt in my inventory, and I don't even bother selling it because it's worthless. Most of the time cooking up 5x of the same ingredient will give you the most potent meal.
