Did some quick calculations with my current holdings and assuming the crypto market recovers and goes on a similar bull run like it did in 2017

I'll have somewhere in the range of $83K to $478K (dat exponential growth curve) by the end of 2018

OR if things go really really well $1,180,000.  :gladbron

And if things don't go well... $7000 or less.  :doge

Is there a way to short bitcoin? I assume that a recession is starting and people will stop investing as much (could be wrong of course).

In that case the first thing they would pull out of is the most volatile securities.

Some exchanges allow shorting. The most common one I see mentioned is Bitmex.

But I personally wouldn't fuck with shorting when it comes to crypto because of how chaotic it is.

Hell, there's even a twitter bot account that tweets liquidations on Bitmex because so many people get fucked trying to short Bitcoin.  :doge

Yes.  :doge

Also, in hindsight, I really should've cashed out my initial investment a lot sooner. I would've been so much less worried about fucking up trades if I did.  :doge

Also potentially somewhere in between.

Also, yes, options trading in crypto sounds insane. Even if th ruling term trend is up or down, the volatility is so high you could easily get fucked having to cover an option that would’ve have paid big bucks the day before it expired.

Unless you are trading options on margin, I would highly recommend that.

oh no

I love the spin in that article. You can’t typically buy stocks and bonds on a credit card, either... and if you do, it’s a, ahem, cash advance. The next step is that Coinbase et al will set up something akin to a brokerage account.

It’s less of a “sign of the fear. Of the establishment” as it is “treating Crypto like any other investment”.

Cryptocurrencies were going to crash, either due to the market itself or when the SEC inevitably regulates it.

Dang my dad lost over $50k in the last couple days and is back where he was a couple months ago. This is a correction we needed but it's painful. And exciting in a way.

Mr. Will, please just find a nice Carolinean chick and convert your greed into lust for the winter. If we are in a bear market, who the fuck is going to buy crypto coins? For the next few months the only way to make money (that I know of) is to buy shorts during the small windows when there's an uptick since the overall trend is downwards. It seems like it'll be that way until there's ~20% loss (in stocks not crypto).

People are trying to barely cover their ass right now, they're not going to buy exotic shit unless they're a permatose virgin dumping mountain dew onto an algorithm. You can't compete with those people.

I’m not fucking selling back into fiat just so I lose another chunk to taxes and then get pissed as crypto recovers & fomo back in.

Hell, this is where I would start buying a bunch of shit.

It’s all icing at this point. My cake is safe and sound in my checking account.

edit: a sign that things are going to reverse is that trading volume is gradually starting to increase for BTC. Which means more people are willing to stick their necks out to buy these dips from the weak hands.

$5K is a strong support. Anything below that and people are going to start dumping shit loads of money into BTC.

edit:
And around $5K is essentially where I started this journey  :doge :
I want to get in on this tulip craze.

Can someone send me a bitcoin to get started?
No but now is a great time to buy. The price plummeted yesterday and is still rather low today.

End of October/beginning of November it'll probably go past 6000 USD again if my charts are to be believed.

(Image removed from quote.)

edit:
Or maybe wait for it to pull back 30% and then buy.

When Senator Mark Warner, who expressed more familiarity with the area than most of his peers, criticized the patchwork nature of regulation that allowed Bitcoin futures while still blocking ETFs, calling for a more “coordinated effort” among regulatory bodies, both witnesses were quick to agree. In doing so Warner offered a bullish vision. “The potential writ large amongst crypto assets and the underlying blockchain could be as transformational as wireless was years ago. I think we’re going to need a much more coordinated effort,” Warner said.

fuckin binance tying up my funds, either they got hacked bigly, they fucked up their site (they migrated from Rackspace late last year, now they're sitting in AWS, haven't got cloudflare anymore, and lookin thru they dns records no WAF), or they're scamming their userbase. likely all of the above. imo the most fucked thing about crypto right now is how reliant on off the chain exchanges we are, the exchanges own nearly everyone's private keys for their currency. completely circumvents the point of this shit.
