Have you not played New Leaf? if you haven't, it'll honestly just come off as trolling because you seem uninformed.

I played the game for like 30 hours and still don't see the point of anything I did in the game. I'm a sucker for fishing minigames and collecting stuff though.

I guess it's just like a Minecraft thing were I don't understand the appeal either. Seems the appeal of the game are the goals you set for yourself. But the game isn't programmed to react to any of the stuff you decide to do on your own.

wait, I get how AC can be kind of obtuse, but how can you not see the appeal of minecraft? It's not for me but "digital Legos" seems like a pretty obvious hook imo

By that same coin Animal Crossing is basically a digital puppethouse. I guess it's just that I expect more from a game than just a tool for expression.

I mean, yeah... but in Minecraft's case I can't get into it's "survival" mode at all. I've tried like 2-3 times and it's just boring sitting there hitting blocks to build things quickly to avoid monsters. It's kinda the same with Animal Crossing: Once you've done the tutorial and stuff, it's like "welp."

'

What's the point of any game then? To win? Some arcade games like Donkey Kong were so hard you could never beat them. Donkey Kong even kills you at level 22. You can't "beat" Donkey Kong. Is there no point to Donkey Kong then? What's the point of playing a fighting game in single player mode? You're just playing shitty AI that reads your inputs. But a lot of people like that. Is there no point there? Some people play metal Gear Solid games for the story, I play them for the gameplay. I played GTA games for creative mission design and different ways of doing things, others just buy them to kill random NPC's and go ham.

I don't understand why there has to be an inherent "point" to a games appeal and don't see why this is any different than any other game.

Hey! Donkey Kong is about that sweet high score. Cranky Kong also gave me a coin for beating it twice.

This game is real relaxing. I don't even know why I keep playing...I think I just want a cool pair of pants.

Just hit level 20, I hope I can switch my region to USA when it actually releases.

Should I try New Leaf or do you guys really think a switch game is coming any time soon?
yuck

Considering Nintendo is still about to release this, I'd be surprised to see Animal Crossing Switch in the next year or so

I'm not so sure I agree, to be honest. If they added even a tiny smidgen of interconnectivity between an as of yet theoretical switch title and this mobile one, they could make quite a bit more moneys. Cross promotion can do terrible damage to weak willed consumers. And frankly, the AC fanbase are ripe for this kind of abuse.

W're sheep. Baaaah.

I figure they'd milk this for all its worth before moving on to the next game (and possibly milking again with cross interconnectivity or whatever)

And even if they do announce it before the end of the year I don't think it would be released in less than six months

Iunno, mang, they already have HD assets and probably a few leftover bits from the AC board game/Mario Party knockoff on WiiU. And the AC channel. I mean, it seems pretty obvious they were halfway through an AC when the WiiU cratered. Which means, a recycling/salvaging of that project shouldn't be all that far-fetched for them since it'd be cheap and cost effective.

I guess we'll see how it goes. Six months feels kinda tight. Nine to twelve, though? That'd be quite possible, I guess.

Once you get past level 7 or so you unlock heaps of shit. I've been bingeing this shit hard and am level 13 already  :rkelly

Game is legit fucking awesome. Already spent $6 on a welcome pack or some shit. The f2p aspect seems good, the game dishes out a lot of resources through all the tutorials and easy AF goals. I can see myself playing this for a good while.

Biggest gripe is you need to visit a friend's campsite to buy shit out of their market box, should just be able to do it from the friends list. At least the friends show up in the diff areas. Make sure you guys list stuff to buy!!!

Haven't figured out how the fuck the quarry works yet, might read up on it.

Will send friend requests to peeps who have posted their codes, my code is 0376 3617 137. Namu Sceneman ofc

Also, this game is about... 25% Animal Crossing. It's good for a mobile title, but in a lot of ways it feels like a backslide for the series - mostly around the social aspects. All the emphasis on online friends in New Leaf was the best part of the game and I think that's how the Switch version is gonna differentiate itself other than being the "full" version. If AC Switch builds on the online stuff New Leaf had then it'll have a pretty big advantage over Pocket Camp.

In comparison, this game is a good distraction and gives you a good sense of that AC "customize your town and show it off" aspect. But there's no real-time multiplayer, no co-op minigames, and even the "Market Box" feels like a step back (I can't take items back? Ever??)

...Needless to say I've already spent money on this game. :P

As for the game...it's ok. It barely functions as an Animal Crossing game and is a basic collect em all game. It's fun but I can see the charm wearing off fast. It doesn't have the appeal of Animal Crossing for me. Like I can't buy clothes yet and the default clothes I got are killing me tbh

You can buy clothes at the Market Place, it has rotating vendors. Other than that.. sucks having to wait to level up villagers for a shirt. This is my first time playing AC so I like it. Excited to see what they add eventually, even Miitomo improved a lot from launch in the first months.

I mean, the only good Nintendo title for mobile is one they didn't do in-house IIRC (Fire Emblem Heroes).

Addendum: The experience itself feels way too "game-ified." Which is a weird complaint but AC was always more of a life sim than a pure game. Adding levels to everything (especially friendships) feels weird. More suited to mobile of course, but much less organic than relationships in real ACs.
