Depends on what you're defining as racist ass shit, because the assumption that racism is rampant on some level will lead you to fulfill the truth of that bias. You're going to go around trying to fill your nazi quota .

As example: There is racism in that thread, but it's not coming from the Papa Johns dude. There's no real reason to assume racism with the Papa John's guy. Just assume he's a self serving business owner. Yet you're wiggling into that view of him just out of peer pressure.

I generally try to assume very little and respond to people based on their actions/words. Actual racism requires a good amount of mental upkeep because its an irrational view of the world.

I'll try to show how that trips someone up: In that thread, you put out John's statement. Everyone assumes "resolve/do something" about the ratings and their cause means putting them black boys in their place. It doesn't mean that at all. The NFL and the NFLPA has been trying to meet to have a better outlet for this other than flag protests. You know why? Because flag protests are an idiot's path. The entire thing was dumb from the start and Kaepernick was way late to the party.

If you want to have some activism and voice, then the way you do it matters. So having pubic messages or some platform for players to talk about the topic in a way relevant to the topic is good. You might even get NFL backing, which plays/looks much better than the current approach. As is, the approach from the start has been misguided and has been nothing but destructive for all involved.

You won't realize any of this if you start from a bad place to begin with.

Assume is a strong word to use there;  but I SUSPECT anyone who donated to Trump's campaign is racist.

Yeah. The way I see it, it is possible he might be racist, but without evidence it is way too strong a word to use against someone. The problem with some people these days is they throw that word around like it is nothing. Any sane, reasonable person would really not like to be branded a racist.

In terms of donating to Trump. Maybe you think donating is more indicative of racist motives than voting for him. I don't know. What I will say anyway is that while I do believe racists voted for Trump I don't believe everyone who voted for Trump was necessarily racist. It is not even that I suspect that a significant percentage of Trump voters aren't racist, the polls kind of bear that out. So for example 36% of Trump voters said they would prefer to live in a diverse neighbourhood. Not just that they were okay with it, prefer. Thats one third of Trump voters.

My point being, while it is very possible he donated money to Trump because he is racist, there seems to be other reasons why people liked Trump. For that reason I would rather hear his explanation first before forming an opinion on that.

But they usually do some good writing in these kinds of stories and did a good job with Elie and sharing her first[?] kiss. You rarely see lesbian characters, let alone respectfully/realistically written ones in many forms of media (and it's hard to talk about this without mentioning the amount of fake lesbians used in pornoraphy --- society has sexualized their experiences for male titillation). Queer thinking happens probably a lot younger than people would think; you don't discover it as an adult often and "parts of it" can be seen/felt when you're quite young (about that tween age). It's a big first to see a young girl realizing this and ND did a great job conveying it and making it feel like it WAS about love, like it was a little crush, and her being young takes a lot of the perversion out of it that can be layered on to a mostly straight audience.
