sorry to bump this, no the joker review is not posted yet
wanted to speculate on what they will say about it
as I was watching it I kept hearing Jay in the back of my mind saying "we get it" because the whole movie kept overexplaining itself at every turn, whether jokes or making statements on mental health
like when his neighbor comes home to discover him and is freaked out and says "your name is Arthur, right? from down the hall?" and it's like
we got it, they never really met, it was his delusion, but no they need to show us scenes of him alone to explain
when the little person from work says "hey, the cops never questioned me," just leave a long pause, the cops know it wasn't a short person, got it
I think they'll like it but with reservations, they'll probably say any time anything Batman was referenced it was like whiplash drawing them out of the film
they'll probably like it until the ending when Joker looks into the camera and says "I am mentally ill and have nothing left to live for, you are bad man"
overall I expect it to be called a fusion of a dark character study with a popcorn comic movie, mental illness for the popcorn crowd, but still probably too weird and dark for grandma
