i think the gunn thread is a good signal that the RE admins have to adapt or die pretty soon. one of the things that's so laughable about nu-gaf is how frequently Lore shifts the blame of Gafs former state from his personal actions to the tone of the community and his mods, as if he was completely powerless to do anything about that; he acts like it was some monster that he created and got out of control, but it's a community he fostered and cultivated. he's the one who let his mods ban people arbitrarily, with no explanation. RE hit the ground running with that as the blueprint and they're getting it from all sides; people constantly whine about both how tolerant of the alt-right every topic is, and how stupid the bans are. both of those things are gonna get worse as long as the admins continue to dig their heels into the idea that moderation is an infallible, unquestionable absolute. the amount of people who get banned for merely questioning mod decisions is really telling about how insecure the admins seem to feel about the community, and it seems completely unsustainable.
