Agree completely. I'm sick of feeling like i'm "falling behind" if I can't play a multiplayer game 4 hours a day, every day. I'm having a blast and I think some people miss the point and also miss some gameplay elements. Simply sailing your ship correctly and keeping it from sinking is a "game" in and of itself. It isn't all about the missions. You can explore islands and find interesting things like chests and skulls or other oddities. Sailing in a storm is great fun. Hunting other player ships is awesome. Add in the free content updates that will hopefully be coming somewhat regularly and this is the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game in over a decade.

Uncharted 2 had/has Elimination mode. Was my favourite mode back in the day. Super tense.  But it was team based, and obviously, it doesn't support such massive numbers of players of these recent games.

CS:GO is basically utterly devoid of techskill whatsoever, and also has basically no mobility options. The result is that its raw gameplay mechanics are extremely limited, combined with the 1-life structure of each round disincentivising aggressive play. This is why CS has the whole bomb objective--being utterly devoid of techskill or the ability to outplay an opponent through sheer dexterity means that CS has to have an objective to force any kind of interesting play whatsoever. But, at the same time, that means that every CS:GO round is stiflingly focused around the objective--instead of being around outplaying your opponents, it's about doing a rote checklist of what the game wants you to do.

This is why CS has all this extraneous bullshit around it--objectives and the economy--because the mechanics are so utterly bankrupt as to be unable to support the game on their own without adding all this extra crap (MOBA's are another great example of this nonsense getting in the way of actually outplaying the opponent). Compare this to Quake or literally any fighting game in existence, but much especially Super Smash Bros. Melee, where the game is about nothing but purely outplaying your opponent though mastery of extremely complicated gameplay mechanics that allow for a near-infinite variety of situations, so that the basic conceit of "kill the other dude" remains exciting and fresh even after thousands of hours.

Not an expert, exactly, but my understanding is that the U.K. does not have an expressly documented “right to free speech” in the same way that the US does, and as such there are more prohibitions than we are used to. For example, you can get a court order not to speak about a civil suit under threat of jail in the U.K. In the US, this isn’t typically a crime, but a civil matter. You can say what you want, but there can be civil consequences.

Also, I know the U.K. is not always great for press freedoms. I remember when the government forced the Guardian to destroy its hard drives during the NSA reporting.
