Yes, it's not really her fault the character was hot garbage, but she did read the script (I hope), and this isn't the first time the insane SW fanbase takes a dump on an actor for playing a character they don't like. And to be brutally honest, her looks certainly didn't help. Happens all the time, happens everywhere - it sucks, but it is what it is. Folks have a hard time differentiating between the characters and the actors who portray them, and the marketing departments support just that. Actors can't really say "it's not my fault the character sucks, I'm only in it for the money", even if that's probably what most of them think most of the time.

I imagine it kinda is, but maybe a part of them kind of wanted it to reinforce their misanthropic and nihillistic view of society. lol

Probably for some people, but I think most people just appreciated (in BPs case) seeing a black positive movie make so much bank, even overseas where it would have traditionally been hamstrung by being a majority black film.
