I mean I'm sure there is a part of him that recognizes that he is profiting off his experience to an extent and that raises some ethical questions that I am sure he looks past to cash those checks, but it is profiting off material aimed at doing what is seemingly a well intentioned and socially beneficial cause.

He seems to have genuinely reformed and deeply loathes the white supremacist movement(just look at his twitter feed) but comes at it from a different place and perspective on how to deal with it(which considering how best to de-radicalize a society or a person is an open question that there isn't a smoking gun answer for right now, so maybe he and his organization is on to something, or maybe they are completely bonkers). One of a rehabilitative and not retributive mindset.
