You know that feeling in StarCraft, where you're doing your best to fend off an overwhelming force, lifting your Terran buildings, sending your SCVs all over the map to try and build bases, doing whatever you can to survive, and then at some point when nothing is working you realize it's all futile? And then you give up, and your stress evaporates, your accept defeat, and you just enjoy watching the things you built be completely overrun?
That's how watching Era feels. I didn't build it, of course, but I tried to make it good, sending admins messages whenever things seemed to be going off the rails. But at this point, you just have to let it go, and just watch the spectacle of it getting worse and worse.
The posts advocating violence used to bother me; now, I'm just amused by the insanity. Trying to get the mods to take care of violence advocacy posts has been like pulling teeth, despite Cerium's claim of an "absolute stance against political violence." They do the absolute bare minimum with violence posts: In a thread full of violence advocacy, they only "action" posts that you report, and only then if it's extremely explicit (obvious implied violence advocacy will not be "actioned"); but if you report too many, you get banned for "abusing the report function."
And for those few violence posts they do "action", it's almost always only a warning, with a please and a thank you. It's the most flaccid, impotent "absolute stance" policy I've ever seen.
So now I've just shrugged, stopped caring about the forum getting better, and resigned myself to just being amused by its deterioration.
