I actually got a reply to my email. Apparently my post was singled out because I was being unacceptably dismissive of new posters, which they take more seriously than garden variety insults.

Sure, but if that’s the case, why wasn’t that the ban message? It feels like something they made up after the fact.

The white Guy's first mistake was to not give Edwin a dollar - everyone has a dollar and Edwin was obviously in need, whether it be for food, medicine, housing, etc. Things must have reaching a breaking point for Edwin so without receiving the dollar he was owed, he was forced to take the white Guy's wallet.

The white Guy's second mistake was chasing Edwin after he was forced to take the wallet. There was no need to do this, he could have easily replaced the wallet and money by working for it or asking friends/family to cover the loss. He could replace his ID by using some PTO at his job to renew it at the DMV. Then he could cancel all his cards and just borrow money from others until he had spending power again.

There were so many points this whole situation could have ended without affecting anyone but instead he decided to be the neighborhood law enforcement and deal with it himself.

I agree. If someone runs out of money, they should be allowed to steal it from someone else in a potentially equal/worse financial situation without repercussion. The affected party can find more or work for more.

I had my wallet stolen. I had to:

Cancel all of my debit and credit cards which meant contacting each bank and card company. I had to dispute the charges the thief made.

I had to pay $10 for a new driver's license.

I had to go down to an office and get a new security card. I no longer carry either my SS card or my passport card in my wallet for this reason.

I lost a couple of pictures of family I really liked.

I lost like $40.

It sucked dealing with that shit and I was pissed and wanted that fucker in jail for it, but in the end, it's just stuff, it ain't worth a life. If I learned that the person that stole it was brutally beaten to death I would feel sorry for them, yes. They may deserve a lot of shit but they don't deserve to die, especially not in a brutal fashion like that.
