This happened in NeoGAF when Evilore reopened his forum without SJW stuff. Suddenly, the forum becomes worse. People suddenly think they're never going to see the word "Trump" anymore. This has the potential to seep into all left-wing discussion in Entertainment. "Come on guys, post that shit in Etcetera. Can't things just be fun?" And you know deep down what they mean.

You're giving into what they want, whether intentionally or not, and that's despicable.

You need to hold an open poll. The community should be allowed to weigh in. They should have been allowed to weigh in from the start. Transparency, right? I'm dumbfounded.

Re: The invariable "why not wait for after 2.0", we determined at this was a change that the communities wanted, that was good for the long term success of the communities, and the sooner it was done, the better.
Re: The invariable "why not wait for 2.0", trying to do a site redesign is enough of a headache on it own that we didn't want to introduce a restructure and a redesign that the same time.

If it's not working after a while, we're obviously not going to leave it as it is, which makes those dooming posts about this change even more confusing to me, but we clearly haven't explained that well enough so I somewhat get why that kind of thinking happens.

I can click on any of the two sub-forums here and they're always active, and always have a smattering of interesting topics to read.

I won't go into more detail as this thread is not about the failed feedback thread. I'll say this: it's not that we didn't like the feedback from the thread, but that certain individuals took the thread as an opportunity to lash out against the staff in front of an audience which culminated in a framing of an event that gave the impression that we shutdown a minority community which is nonsense. Our communication in that thread could have been much better, and I apologize for that. That being said: the bits and pieces of valuable feedback are being looked at and incorporated into 2.0.

We have consulted with community leaders (Prominent Members™) who we see as representatives of our sub-communities about this change and their feedback has been way more positive than in this thread or the announcement one which is why perceived this as a positive change for many. To say that we didn't ask for any input is flat out wrong, but this thread makes it clear that the community wants to be consulted more when it comes to big changes like this one which will be reconsidered.
