This really is the worst part of it all. The transparency is so wildly lacking on the "prominent member" decision, and then the masses summarily ignored in the short-lived feedback thread, that at the end of the day, either the admin team are a bunch of liars that made up the "prominent member" line or the admin team doesn't care what the majority of people want/enjoy and cherry-picked a few people to give them opinions that suit the admin team's personal goals.

There's no coming out of this looking good for the admin team. They're either liars or they're inconsiderate. Maybe both, actually. Even if they roll it back, a significant level of trust is permanently eroded, not because they made a bad design choice, but because they did so through lying to us or ignoring us.

back when you could make easy crazy money off the internet, the free data thing we got once a year i actually read and compared to the traffic bandwidth and it essentially said that off-topic sections and posters who lived there should be considered loss leaders at best

and this was for a forum where the "main part" was people making mods for games, not OTs for games or reposting trailers available anywhere

in other words, the "politics" thing is probably true, but not in the paranoid way they mean...it's just those threads aren't getting valid eyeballs from lots of different people, it's the same derelicts arguing in them constantly and endlessly and the even bigger derelicts who read them and quote them on other forums, when more of that front page space could be devoted to Marvel movies and TV shows than whatever Trump tweeted or the alt-right did or RedLetterMedia's latest attack on minorities or some horrible blood bath or Israel or how often you need to brush your teeth...well...maybe not that last one

that's why they did the obvious split they did, they mashed the hangouts in together because of the people who have their ear still on community matters
