Looking at FF8 (which he did as well) it seems he only did portrait style concept art and not the actual full outfits (at least from what I can find on Google) but post-8, he goes crazy in terms of art-work. When Nomura is put on a chain, he can crank out really decent character art.

Riku uses the dark side in the first game, gets possessed by the ghost of a more powerful dark side user, and because riku is a shonen power wank he just figures out how to use dark side powers without becoming a sith, basically. The time traveling xehanort didnt control anyone, he barely did anything at all, he just put manipulated people where they needed to be so that they could explain that losing eight times was ALL PART OF THE PLAN
