I mean, feminism and social justice wasn’t so...whatever it is now even six years ago. Era is an embodiment of that. What do you think about the current wave of extremism?
I’m not sure if you were a big feminist, it’s been a while.
I consider myself a feminist in that I believe there should be equal rights and opportunities for both sexes. As long as that is what you consider a feminist, I am one, and proud.
In terms of entertainment, since that is what is the focus of forums such as NeoGAF and Restera, I also believe it's a positive thing to shine the spotlight on more than just the "straight white males", and I think an effort to showcase more diversity is a good thing. But it's how it's done that I take an issue with, most of the time. I hate that sexy is now seen as unrealistic or negative, or that everything is now a forced either-or situation, and that seemingly you can't have both dumb unrealistic media alongside serious and realistic.
I especially hate how sites like ResetEra pigeonhole everyone based on skin color or gender. Far too often I've read how this movie or this character should appeal to me because I am a woman, or that how something I like is vile and insulting to women. I hate how extremely American-centric their racial and political views are, and judge everyone based on that specific umbrella.
So... yeah. I think some people have a warped, extremely bitter point of view that ruins any kind of noble goal or intention they might have. It makes me sick. At some point it feels like the're not fighting for anything and are just looking for excuses to remain spiteful.
