The police didn't buy Jussie's story from the start. They were on the case of the false report from the moment he walked out of the station after reporting an assault. We'll see if the instincts of the police were correct soon enough.

I was thinking about this actually, because I remembered that Rafer Weigel tweeted early on that the Chicago Police believed it was a hoax. Just flat out said it was a hoax. He then deleted the tweet. So if that tweet was accurate then Chicago Police did believe right from the start it was a hoax. And there must have been a good reason for thinking that.
