Hm. I cut ties with a white friend over this shit... though admittedly he's one of those types that try to blame everything on SJWs complaining, claims white privilege doesn't exist, and supports Trump.

Nothing of value was lost. Though if we were still on speaking terms I'd take the L while explaining to him why I pushed back on his skepticism so much. He was asserting it was fake based solely on the fact that the bleach would've frozen. That was all he needed to call bullshit. He wanted SO BAD for it to be a hoax. Which says more about him than it does about me.

You are right, they said they have no evidence of what ABC was reporting:

Media reports anout the Empire incident being a hoax are unconfirmed by case detectives. Supt Eddie Johnson has contacted @ABC7Chicago to state on the record that we have no evidence to support their reporting and their supposed CPD sources are uninformed and inaccurate.

I don't know what specifically they reported though.

They reported that the attack was staged because Smollett was being written out of Empire. Which admittedly is a crazy story. lol

In this case there seems to be no legitimate reason to doubt Smollett's account of what happened. As such, any discussion of him faking the attack will be treated as victim blaming and actioned as such.

Either way, I'm still siding with Jussie here, especially since he's still standing by his story as of this morning and all the new information seems to do is obfuscate things, not point directly to him lying. It's a hodgepodge of shit, basically.

I will say, however, that the biggest crock of shit was the rumor that Jussie would stage an assault to keep from being written off Empire. The insanely popular show...on which he plays one of the most popular characters...and has even produced several episodes.

I mean, suppose stranger things have happened, but I frankly don't see how that would be more believable than Jussie being assaulted in the dead of night by two bigots.
