Everyone goes on and on about how much they hate Taco Bell, but they still go there because it gets the job done for a quarter the price of anyone else. Which is as Mexican as something can get.

Did they honestly believe Black Panther would win? The fact that it was even nominated is a fucking joke. Green Book was nothing special, but at least it was an actual movie with actors acting in it.I would have guessed Roma or The Favourite to win.
What the fuck is it with the almost monthly, "I just discovered Friends and it is problematic" threads? Did these people just now get their own TVs or something?
Green Book is typical drama schmaltz that the Academy loves to nominate. Black Panther being nominated for best picture just feels like an empty gesture.
Well whatever you do don’t watch Married with Children
Oh...Oh no...I remember liking that show years ago, but haven't watched it in ages. Please tell me it's not as bad as that sounds.
Why would you watch six seasons of something you dislike and find offensive?

Yesterday at 11:32 PM#4,350Best picture category seemed full of filler to me... and one of the filler movies actually won lmao.
Bring back Chappelle Show
If you go back and watch it, it's full of good sketches, but also some really awkward ones and then it has some that aren't PC. It's not like it wasn't uncontrovertial at the time, but they got away with it.I mean, Comedy Central before the 2010s was pretty un-PC if you ever watched Strangers with Candy. Essentially, I don't think it would work unless they tweaked it lots.

Isnt Black Panther super problematic too? A male dominated society where the leader is decided by combat and woman seem to be secondary/lesser?
Black Panther wasn't even the best Marvel movie of the year. Venom was way more fun, and that certainly deserved no best picture award, either.
https://twitter.com/alex3nglish/status/1099886941179400192Lmao nothing was gonna be good enough short of winning best picture
Slightly related, but I actually went to the same university as the two dudes hired to be the "attackers" - Quincy University. One of them came up to me at the schools gym and asked me to take "sexy pictures" of him because he saw me filming sports highlights for the school and assumed I did photography. I guess he was trying to get a modeling career going. I did not do it btw.

Friends was the whitest of white shows on at the time. I watched this show as a little kid with my white mother and was never convinced that there was so little people that looked like me in NYC. Ross never ceased to creep me out, mans was clingier than a dybbuk.
I watched reruns when I got older because as mentioned above, my mom is white and she didnt give Black led TV shows the time of day. My BF is white and I'm slowly introducing Black led TV shows to him.

How the fuck did Roma not win best picture? What a fucking joke.
Like how did Bohemian Rhapsody even get picked?
People who are part of the LGBT community are more likely to notice these things because they’ve experienced this kind of discrimination in real life. There’s a scene in Friends in which Monica and Rachel are looking through old photographs of people they went to high school with.Monica shows Rachel of a guy they went to high school with and says something like, “Hey, you want to see so and so shirtless?” and hands her a photo. And Rachel says, “He’s not shirtless. He’s wearing a sweater.”And Monica says, “no he isn’t.”And Rachel says, “Ewww!”The implication here is that some guy from high school is very hairy and Rachel expresses disgust at this. Now, is this problematic?People who are hairy and self-conscious about it, such as myself, may have felt stung by this joke. But many other people may have laughed at it and never gave it a second thought.

4. PLAYING OFF FEMALE-TO-MALE DOMESTIC ABUSE FOR LAUGHS. Joey dates a girl played by Punk Brewster, and her thing is that she is constantly “playfully” punching Joey as hard as she can. When Joey expresses this to the group, EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. Lines up to gaslight him and tell him to “man up”. This isn’t funny now and I can’t even believe it was “funny” then.
But one of the worst to me —
How has no one mentioned yet that it completely ripped off and white-washed Queen Latifah's Living Single? That's even more problematic than any actual content because it stole the premise, characters and episodes from a great, essential and important show from and for black people and then undermined and buried it with one that's completely ignorant towards literally everyone who's not straight or white. Lol.
is this really happening. Are they scouring a 90s sitcom for problematica.
