Microsoft: B+ (after the dust settles you realize all they have for this year is Forza. But 5 new studios and a new console somewhat announced is hard to beat. Not to mention the first look at Cyberpunk and whatnot)
Sony: C (what they showed looked really good and some of it near completion. However it's obvious they've shifted to PS5 development by now)
Nintendo: F- (Fire Emblem and their robot game look rough and that makes it weird they won't show anything else for 2019)
Yoshi died on the way to his flipping Island. (which is kinda weird as it looked to be in pretty good shape last year)
Ridge Racer crashed and burned.
Metroid Prime 4 has gone missing.
Bayonetta 3 is?
Mario Party as your tentpole (other than Pokemon) holiday release. What the fuck.
Smash Bros. december, the way Sakurai was talking about: "We really want every character playable, we're working hard etc.", yeah that could easily slip into 2019 unless Pokemon bombs.
What makes it especially weird is that Nintendo only has the Switch to support. I expected them to try and convince the last few 3DS owners to jump ship.
Nintendo didn't care about indies and third parties anymore. "Oh yeah, this shit's also coming". And they forgot to mention half the games (like the Tales of Vesperia port).
Apparently paid online is coming but god knows what benefits that will bring. OS update for your Switch? Who knows.
They might bring something to Tree House. Miyamoto is wearing the same strange Nintendo shirt with characters and all sorts of contraptions on it for two days now.
Maybe Nintendo Maker or something as a sequel to Super Mario Maker. Could fit right into the August/September gap.
Also, Retro is a no show for the 5th year in a row.
Bethesda: A+ (say what you will about Bethesda, they delivered)
Ubisoft: B (Asscreed looks better than expected. No splinter cell was a bit of a letdown)
Square Enix: C (we knew what to expect, Tomb Raider looks really good but nothing new)
EA: F (Battlefield V was the only thing worth a damn and they showed very little. In fact they didn't show much of anything except the live raping of C&C)
Overall this E3 is pretty great though. Some cool games coming this year (Tomb Raider, Smash Bros., Battlefield V, Soul Calibur IV and others), some really good shit coming next year.
Although I think half will be delayed past Q1 2019 as right now a dozen games are scheduled to release on February 22nd 2019 for whatever reason.
Next year will probably be the next gen blow-out. Microsoft has the studios to prepare. Sony obviously has their teams working on PS5 games already.
So Q1/Q2 2019 will see an insane number of late current gen titles. Late 2019 will see Xbox Two and PS5 (or just one of them).
If anything this E3 showed that the recession is well and truly over. Production values are through the roof, weird shit is getting paid for.
...
Seriously you can't tell me Nintendo isn't able to crunch out Yoshi in time for holiday 2018.
