Yep.

The reason some people are so rabid about preventing "impure" thoughts is because they have them and assume everybody does.

Completely not realizing that if you're not gay those kinds of things don't really pop into your head like that.

 :confused

these are definitely ban worthy comments in a thread literally outing a closeted homophobe

Kolx: I guess the title deserves its own thread.
-----
Nanashrew: I'm pretty sure this is a re-boot of Arkham Asylum.
-----
PancakeBurglar: No, it's that game that made me think about using the word "character" when referring to Batman.
-----
kenta: What a fucking mess!
-----
Grimminski: There's a series of games where you can play as Batman
-----
Keyouta: Couple of hours of gameplay.
-----
Patapuf: That was an incredibly well made game at the time, but it's been a long time since I played it.

Dekuman: That's what Rocksteady does.
Someone should play a game...is it an incoherent AI shit post or is it Slayvern?

Of? Homophobic politicians who are fixated on oppressing and *curing* the LGBT community?

the stated reason given in that thread, by what I can only assume was the same person mashing the snitch button, is - and I shit you not - because it makes homophobia an 'internal' problem of the LGBT community, not something perpetrated by straights.

and I could explicitly outline the mental gymnastics required to reach that conclusion, but its quite a work out, and I just ate

It’s not about Republicans being secretly gay, it’s the implication that gay people are secretly Republicans.

Bring a "professional" implies you get paid for doing something, yet there is no evidence that Hobbes has ever been paid to write anything in his "career".

Also, speaking of professionalism, I love how the Kotakunts say they have "reached out" to Nintendo, Deep Silver and whoever else for comment.

Any professional journalist would know that you don't publish your accusation without first getting a comment from the parties being accused of something. You know, like, this idea of balance that any rudimentary understanding of journalism ethics would teach you.

Ironically enough, the most I've heard that used (in the context of "that's really stupid!") was by fellow coworkers when I worked at a special ed software company.

Not that anybody did anything wrong, of course, but an article that didn't bother to wait for anyone to reply before getting published, which was based on a single persons mondegreen, and despite being corrected post-publication, confirming there is no news story, has yet to be fully corrected or indeed, retracted, as a non-story, but it wasn't the authors decision to publish without any fact checking. Or tweet and then delete the same unchecked sentiment on their personal Twitter.

Quote from: Dumb guy who thinks he's infallible and knows everything
There is no game on Earth that "needs" 60 FPS.
There is no game on Earth that doesn't benefit from 60 FPS.
There is no game on Earth that doesn't benefit from framerates higher than 60 FPS on a high refresh rate display.

There are zero exceptions to what I just said and it's not possible to argue otherwise. It's not a debate.

Quote from: Very smart and handsome poster
Why is it that whenever I see "It's not a debate" it's usually from people who have the least grasp of the debate at hand?

Quote from: Dumb guy who thinks he's infallible and knows everything
You're welcome to elaborate

Quote from: Very smart and handsome poster
The debate has nothing to do with a hypothetical cost-free 60fps, and everything to do with resource allocation, where 60fps does have costs. It takes time, money, and processing power to reach a locked 60fps. For the end-user, while the dev's time and money aren't necessarily important, the processing power allocation is. When people say a game like BotW should be locked 30fps, it's because bumping it to 60 would cost visual fidelity in a game that is already on the edge of occasionally being ugly, occasionally being beautiful. You can think that the cost is worth it; that's great. But some people don't. And that's where the debate lies. To say there is "not a debate" when there clearly is a debate as to how resources can best be allocated for each game is just plain wrong.

If she's right, this is being pretty pedantic.

The issue is the use of a slur. Talking about LKD in this way is clouding that needlessly.

If she's wrong, you can talk about reactionary journalism.

This defensive reaction many seem to be adopting is premature and disconcerting.

Frankly, I find this information worth getting out sooner rather than later so that people who have a problem with it don't purchase the DLC.

She asked for comment, if she's wrong she can retract.

She didn’t put out “anything,” she published this story. If she’s wrong, she’ll be embarrassed and it will effect her credibility. If she’s right (and I believe she is), she acted swiftly to inform potential buyers of what they would be supporting by purchasing the DLC.

I know which of those two options I value more.
