Cracks me up. Trump's America is a war-ravaged nazi hellhole, right up until the point where you ask if it's a war-ravaged nazi hellhole. At that point, the answer is 'no obviously not where on earth did you get that idea?'

Gaslighting. That's what's going on there. I think, anyway, as nobody ever produced a smug comic to tell me what gaslighting is.

It's so funny to read American posters defend their country as safe, but add "don't go out at night", "watch out for bad neighborhoods", ""don't argue with people, they might have a gun", "as long as you're white"...

Using those or similar guidelines, seems that the US is just as safe as Syria or Yemen. The onls difference being that in those countries you might be a collateral victim of bombing, while in the US shooting is the method of choice.

What part of Chicago were you in? Because the only places you’d ever feel unsafe in aren’t a place you would be while visiting the city. The only truly dangerous parts are in the low income neighborhoods on the south side ie a place 99% of people visiting would never end up in.

All these buzzwords seem to be designed to give people the ability to proffer an inflammatory opinion as though it were an obvious fact, and then not have to defend or explain anything when subjected to basic scrutiny.

Thing is, that's kinda how things work nowadays, so I'm not sure I can fault them for it.

young bloods is by what I've seen looks like a shitty cash grab with micro transactions implemented to overcome blatant design flaws, like ammo not resetting if you die etc. But when you got some tea drinking SIS-ters giving off some frat bros impression whilst dunkin' on trump, of fucking course people are going to be praising that. Bethesda are so fucking transparent these days, don't look at our bugs, look at our political stance woo fucking whoo

No idea where we were. It was near a hospital.

We we're waiting for a relative to finish work (she's a psychiatrist) and decided to go and get some food while we waited. The only place around was a McDonald's and I felt like I was in an episode of that shitty old Cops show.

Ah man, y'all got me, I WOULD dislike blatantly racist games for example. UGH. Turns out I actually do dislike opinions. This is a very clever argument.

If an artist decided to spew hatred and bigotry with their art, then I would call that out. That doesn't mean that it's somehow hypocritical to still wish arists to be able to not hide their influences. Or to consider art that actually has a message - even if it's only "Yo, Nazis and xenophobia are really bad, huh?" inherently more interesting. Both are possible at the same time.

It is funny how he see "politics that disagree with mine" equate to "Nazi and racism are good!" There's a wealth of political positions and political subjects that doesn't involve Nazis/racism/bigotry at all, believe it or not, that you may agree or disagree with. Not everything revolve around Nazis.

They're really overselling the anti-Trump message in Wolfenstein on Resetera. There's other modern political stuff that gets a parody as well and it's not as blatant with its messaging as the previous game.
A recurring theme in the cables seems to be global warming. It is not much different from the other two games, which also had similar notes and news articles to find based on real world events of that time.
The game certainly portrays a more leftist/liberal view but overall is not much different in messaging from say the Romney cameo in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Is the US safe to visit?

Well aside from the Nazi rallies that are bad for your optics, the drone armies commanded by Boeing and John Bolton, the risk of being locked into a cage when you try to enter the country, torture at the CIA black sites, trans genocides, prescription gateway drugs to opioid addictions, violent gangs, alt-right activists, 24/7 cable news brainwashing, Twitter meltdowns from the President, 700+ nuclear warheads on stand-by, weaponized Facebook ads, the abolishment of human rights, lack of healthcare, local effects of global warming, droughts, forest fires, militarized police, veterans with PTSD, cocaine Mitch, ANTIFA gangs, the Deep State, the KGB moving around rent free, Chinese government spies, crypto fascists, Mueller and the 7 angry Democrats, radical AOC + 3, daily mass shootings, aliens, helicopter crashes, pedo sex trafficking rings, Hollywood rapists, The Clinton Foundation, no environmental regulations, rodent and rat infested Democratic districts, weapon tests, AIDS, people that don't vaccinate, Rudy's rogue NY branch of the FBI, everyone that carries a gun, DMT fueled Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs and the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

FANTASTICALLY SAFE

I watched that whole Lindsay Ellis video about manufactured authenticity (:hhh*) and it seems barely pertinent with regards to Girlfriend Reviews since she mostly discuss breaking the fourth wall in taped shows (cooking, for the examples shown) and vloggers / slice of life type videos.

At one point Ellis says that a streamer using a racial slur may be a sign of burnout at the emotional labor of maintaining the on-camera personality during long periods of time. And that it should be considered and approached with some empathy even if not condoned.
 :whatsthedeal

As far as I can tell, Girlfriend Reviews has always been an obviously scripted and edited show, the Girlfriend don't appear on camera. Yes arguably there's a kernel of fiction to the premise but :
- They're a real couple.
- It's not "Emma Realperson Reviews", the Girlfriend and Boyfriend are obviously abstracted personas.
- If there was any doubt of that, they use the "distracted boyfriend" meme as a thumbnail for all their videos.
- I find mentions in articles as far back as March 2019 (so basically 4 months after they started uploading) that he writes the rough scripts and she performs and it doesn't seem like it's a big secret.
- They had a whole video behind the scenes in May laying it all out.

They also do Twitch stuff and I dunno nothing about that so please correct me if needed.

ERA :derp

* I don't really care for Ellis and I found the video pretty shallow, it switches from a decent, detailed demonstration of pseudo-spontaneous fourth wall tricks using two cooking shows to some pretty vague, non illustrated, considerations on vloggers.

i played and liked the two previous ones but them making this some sort of lootshoot style (don't have an aneurysm riotous) grindfest with no loot as a reward really turned me off. i'll still get nuWolf 3 as long as it goes back to just killing anything you see with various weapons with no leveling/grinding horseshit.

So many of Bethesda’s recent games seem like they arrive to no hype.

Wolfenstein
Rage 2
Fallout 76
The Evil Within 2
Prey
Dishonored 2

These games just came and went.

At one point Ellis says that a streamer using a racial slur may be a sign of burnout at the emotional labor of maintaining the on-camera personality during long periods of time. And that it should be considered even if not condoned.

Time to cancel Lindsay Ellis?

This thread is a fucking trip.

All of the mod actions on his account were related to this specific reaction toward weeb games. He hasn't been reforming, but we'd prefer not to ban him over such silly nonsense. Alternative actions like this are considered in such cases, and here it's presumably intended to get in front of the next time he walks into a thread and intends to go overboard again. Maybe it leads to some self-reflection, maybe people know he has a chip on his shoulder and to ignore rather than engage.

It's not petty, juvenile, or tyrannical. It's a finesse action. He chose to make this account suicide thread in response, which is unfortunate but not very surprising. He hasn't been banned at this time, so that we can talk it out and understand each other better.

EviLore acting like there's more than himself modding the forum, and he's getting dragged for banning a guy who made fun of some pedophile weeb game.

Quote
I don't get the super hate the op is getting. Yeah these type of threads are lame but the tag he caught is really scummy. The mod that did that needs to fuck off from gaf, petty as all hell.

I also YouTubed that gun gun pixie game....if you play that shit you a fucking suspect as fuck. Fucking weirdos would play that shit, people with kids should be cautious around you.

Take a long hard look at yourselves in the mirror.

That mod is the 'Lore. It's always the 'Lore.

He seemed to hire some professional seeming mods, off of fiverr I guess, but yeah, there's zero fucking doubt the passive aggressive petty asshole vindictive one is him

Purple Gaf or Orange Gaf?

Highly unethical? Well it's legal so why wouldn't they do it? We should fault the tax laws, not those that take advantage of them. I would take advantage too!

Been seeing this girl for the last 2 months and now she tells me she doesn't want a relationship. I didn't bring up the relationship topic. But I guess this means it's fully over with us.
We have contact each day but her texts are without any love. It sucks.

My heart aches like hell and I don't know what to do. She was the most beautiful girl I've ever dated/seen. I love(d) everything about her.
Especially her humour and kindness.

I'm sad. :(

Someone even posted "Gym" lmao.

It's probably because we're Reddit zoomers but back in my day "gaslighting" was simply "lying".
:yeshrug  :iface
I could've swore that gaslighting was a thing back then... but my memory is bad.

It's probably related to the way Nintendo has treated the Metroid IP and Samus as a character.

We got the official character assassination of Samus: Other M

some really creepy fetishism in the smash bros series where they literally gave Samus high heels for her zero suit.

We finally know why Metroid wasn't ever that popular among children. It's because the latest Smash Bros. game from 2018 has high heels! And because the like the 8th game in the series was bad. :brain
