I took the L if you look at my post/edit. But it just reinforces what I’m saying. Internet culture takes reasonable people and puts them on one side or another.

Just like you were so happy to point out I was wrong. I bet you would never do that to me if you knew me, or said that to my face. But hey, it’s cool to push allies to the other side just so you can be a dick.

Quote from: RedMercury
How would you explain to an LGBT person, a Black person, or a Mexican immigrant that they should listen to Republicans' side?
Jesus Christ. What part of race and sex is not a debatable issue do you not understand?

It’s so easy for you to fall back on these issues to make everyone out as evil. If you hate any of those groups there is no argument to fact that will change your mind. We know this. Stop using it as a crutch.

You do realize that your taking the red meat on these arguments just as the racists and the homophobes are as well, right?

You’ve taken a discussion about debating policy issues into one about basic human rights. Which then lowers the debate to the lowest common denominator and the initial discussion can never take place. Which is the whole entire purpose of those who are trying to distract you.

I don’t want to say that you are part of the problem, but dam, you are part of the problem.

pre-emptive  :salute

also to address redmercurys stunning gotcha:
Quote from: RedMercury
How would you explain to an LGBT person, a Black person, or a Mexican immigrant that they should listen to Republicans' side?

why don't you ask an LGBT / Black / Mexican immigrant republican?

I found out why RedMercury turns on Capt. America so quickly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_War_(comics)
Quote
The plot of the series follows a framework story line in which the U.S. government passes a Superhero Registration Act, ostensibly designed to have super powered individuals act under official regulation, somewhat akin to law enforcement. However, superheroes opposed to the act, led by Captain America, find themselves in conflict with those supporting the act, led by Iron Man, with Spider-Man caught in the middle; the X-Men take a neutral stance. The superheroes in support of the law, such as Iron Man, Mister Fantastic and Ms. Marvel, become increasingly authoritarian. In the aftermath of the war, Captain America surrenders and is imprisoned. The conflict between freedom and security is an underlying theme in the story line, with real-life events and discussions, such as the U.S. government's increased surveillance of its citizens, serving as a backdrop for the events in Civil War

Quote
Guided by Iron Man, Congress quickly passes the Superhuman Registration Act [10] (SHRA), 6 U.S.C. § 558, requiring the registration of all persons with superhuman abilities with the U.S. government, and the enlistment and training of those wishing to operate as superheroes.

Spider-Man demands to see the concentration camp-styled prison facilities "42" in the Negative Zone [16]. He concludes that he has made a mistake by siding with Stark and attempts to defect from Iron Man's side but is confronted by Iron Man and, after a brief battle, escapes.

RedMercury reading that.

Is showergate the most expensive shower in existence?

Quote
If it isn’t considered the premier forum related to the video game industry, NeoGAF is easily one of the most prominent. Owner Tyler Malka, who goes by the name “EviLore,” shared that he’s turned down as much as $10 million from corporate suitors looking to buy the independent forum.

A little over one year ago, Malka took part in an interview with VG247 in which he revealed that, “on average, I get … I think I would say a buy-out offer on average every two weeks. I’ve had some really lucrative offers – $5 million offers,” and those came in early 2012.

In a recent thread, however, Malka simply responded that he has been “offered double since.”

Why does Malka continue to turn down some clearly not insignificant money? That same interview sheds some light on his thought process. “When you’re getting into that range – ‘retire comfortably and take care of everybody you care about for the rest of your life’ – sort of money, then you really have to decide what the most important thing to you is. Do you feel like you’ve accomplished all you want to accomplish or not?

“You can keep on doing things, obviously, after cashing out, but you can’t keep doing what… y’know, what you got to that level of success with. Like, I’d still be running NeoGAF, I’d still be in control of it. Eventually I would probably leave it behind and move onto some other project that I would actually have control over again – and I wasn’t really comfortable with making that decision.”

I certainly can’t fault him for that logic. Since that interview, NeoGAF has grown by leaps and bounds. The forum currently has around 132,000 members, nearly 600,000 threads, and over 67 million posts. That’s really impressive considering its strict approval process.

With industry veterans, developers, journalists and ardent enthusiasts making up NeoGAF’s community, the forum has been a steady source of relevant video game news and amusing culture commentary. If Malka ever does decide to cash in on his remarkable project, hopefully the forum continues to be the influential platform it is today.

[Thanks, NeoGAF!]

I'll tell you exactly what I'm talking about. Years ago I wrote a post about why I wouldn't say the N-word. But since I was writing somewhat academically, I just spelled it out and put quotes around it. At the time that was acceptable. Now I would like to scrub it, since I don't think that'd be kosher anymore.

A couple years ago I took out 'distinguished black fellow' by Dick Gregory from the public library. I had to put a reserve on it since it is apparently a popular item, and you can bet when I went to the counter to ask for my book I did not ask for 'N-word'.

REEE is full of fucking idiots who love the sound of their own voice and are arrogant and ignorant. Neogaf is full of fucking assholes who would push you down the stairs if it meant they would get home faster to masturbate to pictures of Trump.

Probably. They are all fucking lunatics. That was obvious a few months after the big split. I think the only thing keeping most of the sane people there are the communities. That's what kept me around for so long, but even then, the lunacy was starting to creep into those as well.

The thing about Reee is that they are both commies and corporate ball washers at the same time. They are slaves to anything Disney. They cheer at any opportunity for game publishers to assert control over consumers if it means sticking it to "gamers." Any company that engages in surface-level woke politics like Gillette become their new corporate hero, though Disney will always eventually retake that spot in their hearts. As long as you either: 1.) Give them comic book movies, 2.) repeat their politics, or 3.) hurt their ideological enemies, ERA is super easy to manipulate to make them sheep/shills for you company or brand.

Maybe it's just my asceticism talking but eating that much seems immoral. Even disregarding the health issues, the amount of food that someone that obese would need to eat to maintain that weigh seems extremely wasteful.

Of course on NeoGaf it's just an excuse to be sexist and edgy and "anti-pc".

There's a significant difference between "Hey porky pig! Oink oink, you loser! Go kill yourself, fatty!" and "Being fat is bad for your health and also looks bad. You should do your best to healthily avoid it / try to lose some weight."

The former probably costs lives. The latter probably saves lives.
