That Games Journalist who works for the company Freelance (never heard of it) is getting absolutely dragged for being an idiot

Well, he's technically right in one aspect. The act of accusing someone of wrongdoing and the act of giving testimony of someone's wrongdoing is the same. It's just that the forum is different. And both are a form of evidence, i.e., something that would nudge you toward believing something has some likelihood of being true. It's more likely that someone accused of rape is a rapist than someone who has no such accusations leveled against them.
But where he's wrong is in the substance of what people mean when they say they don't believe accusations "without evidence." What they mean is they won't participate in a public crucifixion of someone without
substantial or
sufficient or
corroborating evidence. Typically when someone has 10 accusations from 10 different people leveled against them, we tend to think, yeah, this has a good chance of being true. But for normal people, a single accusation is too easy to abuse, so we don't find a single accusation to be substantial evidence, but rather grounds for reasonable suspicion that warrants further investigation.
This "freelance journalist" thinks believing every accusation a woman makes even without any further corroborating evidence--and then punishing the accused--is prudent. And for that, he's an idiot.
