When I replace RBG on the Supreme Court I'm going to find a Nintendo fan exemption to the First Amendment protection of the right to assemble. There's nothing "peaceful" about this.

Sorry Tasty, you know it has to be done.

These threads and the posts in them only make things worse. People are constantly talking doom
and gloom and all you do is make people want to give up. What annoys me the most is so many of the people posting that shit aren’t even putting in any real effort to help change things. Instead of trying to freak everyone out actually try and help and encourage others to do the same.

No, these threads don't make things worse because these threads don't burn fossil fuels. I do what I can to help and I'm pessimistic at the same time because I'm not fucking blind to the actual reality of the situation, and I'm tired of being told I shouldn't express cynicism because it make your eyes poopy. Your whining about it ain't doing shit for me either. Get over it.

So, i'm an italian dude and here the Seinfeld show is pretty much unknown. Nobody knows it and nobody probably will, since there's no channel that broadcasts it.
I fell in love with it, but it took time and dedication, it was not love at first sight.

16 is young but it's not like that's too young to decide shit for yourself.

But i'd feel like it'd be creepy if it was a 16 year old girl, which I guess is pretty sexist of me.

Childhood? MGS? Jesus I’m old.

My favourite game as a child was RACE on the VIC-20. Oddly though, it featured nothing at all about race, only some fast cars moving up a screen. I guess the real message was lost on me.

For me, it's the PC fandom's use and normalization of "PC Master Race" that ticks me off the most because it was so obvious what was going to happen and was happening yet no one involved did NOTHING and those who did were shot down.

Even years later I've still disgusted, when Tyler Wilde, executive editor of PC gamer at the time flat out said way back 2015 that people were using it unironically (which no, you shouldn't be using terms like ironically either) and were embracing it and the dangers of that, Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw had the gall to claim Wilde was being the "thought police" and flat out said it was GOOD thing that kids were using Nazi terminology without knowing the history of it... WTF... WTF.... Oh and what do you know, places like steam where that term was fully embrassed are now full of actual Nazi... WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THAT HAPPENING /s

I will never understand who Yahtzee gets away with every awful sexist, racist, pro-alt-right (remember he's happily stuck with The Escapist) crap he's pulled or why so many consider him this vanguard or criticism, wit and what a "gamer" should be, we should never have allowed Nazi terminology and imagery be normalized like that and people like him and the companies who endorsed the terms get at least called out on it.

Seriously stop using that term.

This guy seems to really be bothered by that term, he keeps bringing it up in unrelated threads.  :doge

NO ! :rage

Pop culture has been inundated with portrayals of German soldiers on the Western front from 1945 on, up to tragic or sympathetic ones and having German protagonists (Iron Cross or the Eagle has Landed, to cite two), on a scale much larger than videogames (there's not a ton of games who have or need even such a perfunctory level of character writing). Now it probably fed from and to the popular myth of apolitical Wermacht / evil Nazis* but despite all that "normalization" (to use the fashionable term) going on for half a century, the Western audiences didn't suddenly consider the Nazis good guys. Just like those poor, mindless sheepish plebs didn't think Stalags were all fun and games because they watched Hogan's Heroes.

ERA's frothing in the mouth won't get any better because as WWII slides more and more in being old rather than recent history, the vague commitment to some historical fidelity will become more and more tenuous.

It's present day neo-Nazis/Fascists PR we need to be vigilant about, not relatively benign** depictions of a long extinct specific incarnation of a regime (and associated imagery) IMHO.

* Kelly's Heroes is the only one I can think of where the German character (that we don't know much about but is "sympathetic", at least within the cynical framework of the story) is a SS. The film also has the deadpan and dark humor to have a mini swatiska flag being waved in the final Allied parade, proportional to his share in the story. :lol

** Excluding whitewashing of Old Nazis by New Nazis, obviously.

Yeah, he had a tendency to make caustic, out of place jokes that screamed projection. IIRC, he berated WoW players in one of the videos he narrated for no reason at all. And he would plug his disdain for Sonic the Hedgehog at any possible opportunity. He was just bizarre.

Oh and I almost forgot his attempt at forming an objective opinion. Namely, he hired a bunch of VFX artists to argue that the Sonic Boom Amy was objectively bad and that anyone who liked that design was wrong.

Is that so? I would argue otherwise. Most people are significantly dumber than they give themselves credit for and that is precisely why things like marketing work in the first place.
Well you're wrong and this whole "I'm the smartest person in the room shtick" when they call "everyone" else dumb but themselves is odd. Do you interact with everyone that you meet with that mentality?

https://www.resetera.com/threads/for-those-that-are-blocked-by-kamiya-on-twitter-are-you-still-buying-platinum-kamiya-games-if-so-why.127163/

Quote from: WarpSpeedMolasses, post: 22468437, member: 895
I love Platinum games and love what Kamiya has brought to gaming with his work. Okami will forever be one of my favorite games and Astral Chain looks amazing.

Like many other successful directors, Kamiya's someone I admired and looked up to creatively. However, I have a hard time reconciling this with his Twitter presence.

I tuned it out and focused on how much I love the games and his work, but then I found out I was blocked by him. Honestly not sure why. I know gamers can be toxic to creators online, but I know I personally don't behave that way, and haven't done anything of that sort.

Maybe I'm taking this too personally as a fan? Especially since it's social media. But when all's said and done, it's something that springs up in the back of my mind whenever I pop in Okami or Bayo.

Am I missing something? Is it a caricature/self-produced persona that he's hamming up online? Even still, it seems like an odd way to treat fans.

Gaming is a recreation hobby, and money and time are finite. Allocating these to titles where the creator lashes out at fans feels wrong.

If I'm missing something, someone point it out cause I'm pretty conflicted here.

Forget memeing bad stuff the day after it happened. Someone uploaded a video Honkler burning down the Notre dame whilst the thing was still fucking burning

I remember 9/11 jokes going around online while it was happening. I'm not sure why they think this is new.

Because otherwise they couldn't justify the escalation of their own behaviour and it would rob some of the self importance they assigned to their existence (as we are all prone to do, vividness of the present and all that).

Ironically it creeps into moral panics and "decadence of the Roman Empire" mindset which are very dated and conservative.

Quote from: Weltall Zero
I don't agree with this video at all.

If playing as the Nazi side in a WW2 shooter makes you think Nazi's aren't that bad, you're a pretty shitty person anyway.
"If playing a game with tits bouncing around makes you think of women as objects, you're a pretty shitty person anyway".
"If playing a game with lootboxes makes you spend a lot of money on them, you have a gambling problem anyway".

I'm so fucking sick of this transparent, no-true-scotsman cop out...

I like how weltall zero is so embedded in his own dumbfuck kulturkampf that his own strawman arguments don't actually fucking work, because no, most people don't think playing a game with bouncy titties in turns you misogynist, most people dont think playing overwatch punts you into gamblers anonymous territory, and - as this clown got rebutted on - playing gta isn't a murder simulator

Also I get why 'games journalists' come up with these stupid fucking takes all the time; its a combination of being paid by the article and needing something to print, and their increased obsolescence as 'experts' when history has shown any fucking chimp can play a game then tell you what they thought about it, and youtube enables them to get paid to do that.

But I don't get why people like crossing eden need to come up with these stupid fucking takes.
Is there really nothing else in videogames you have to discuss? How about that [INSERT LAST GAME YOU PLAYED]?

Boy, I hope these galaxy brains get their way and we live in a world where all history and knowledge of WW2 is entirely erased, because 'someone might copy it', and there definitely aren't any lessons to learn that should never be forgotten

How can he think about anything else when he believes there are Nazis and "bad-faith actors" trying to gate-way people into Nazism around ever corner?

If only there was a country in the world where for a specific period of time all nazi imagery in videogames was entirely banned that we could point to and the ongoing existence of neo-nazis within that country and say "No you fucking idiot, that didn't solve shit"
