Let’s do an extremely rough calculation of what a “hardcore” gamer might have spent over the years at worst case scenario prices ($400 per system, and $60 per game, owning 10 systems, and 30 games per system):

Systems: 10 x $400 = $4,000

Games: 10 x 30 x $60 = $18,000

So that’s $22,000 at absolute worst case scenario spending and pricing.

Hey guys. So, I wasn't actually expecting to see a thread get made but since it did, I suppose I'd chime in a bit since I see some conflicted posts. I know about The Escapist's prior history. When I was approached I was a very hesitant because of it, but soon found out that Pitts was no longer there. The outlet is now run by Nick Calandra who's the EiC, and who I've known for quite some time. He's a good person who also created the Gameumentary documentary series on YouTube documenting different game studios and has always been a solid force for good.

As far as I'm aware, and I asked because that was my first question, Pitts and all the former staff of his ilk are long gone. I think everyone who knows me knows I couldn't be any farther on the opposite end of the spectrum from a GG'er, and so is Nick. Obviously I'd never had agreed if there were any such ties or malicious things happening around there now. Since there's new leadership that stressed that things will be different with a new team, I agreed. This is only a little side project of mine in my spare time. I of course can't control the conduct of other staff on there if anything comes up in the future. But things would definitely change if anything egregious happens.

I hope everyone knows from my character and history that I've always stood up for the betterment of the industry and everyone involved in it. No one's wrong in how they feel. If you don't want to support it, there's absolutely no problem in that at all, and no hard feelings from me.

(And I'm really, really sorry for not sounding like Newman).

I do agree that Contra views her gender expression as extremely binary and that it impacts her opinions on enbies.
But I don't see how that's related to that twitter thread she wrote, which had nothing to do with how enbies express gender and everything to do with her disliking being reminded she's trans.
